At the rate contracts increase, and new TV deal in the works, Watson should get 60-70 million per on a new deal in 4 years, thus likely far surpassing what Mahomes will be getting over the next 10 years.

The NFL seriously needs to have a max contract for QBs. If I was the players union I’d be furious. They were able to get the NFL to cap rookie deals which made sense. That money was supposed to go to the veterans but it only went to the quarterbacks. Now it’s getting out of hand. Obviously it’s the most important position but this is absurd.

I mean, Watson was due $22 M over the next two years, so this is a 6-year $180 M deal. $30M/year isn't a major escalationlupedafiasco wrote: ↑05 Sep 2020 11:22The NFL seriously needs to have a max contract for QBs. Completely disagree, let teams build their rosters however they want.

Adrian Peterson signs with the Lions
I tend to agree. I hate the over value on QBs too but if you cap them, then that rewards even more the teams who get lucky on a QB in a draft and that fortune will reward that that team for 10 - 15 years.BF004 wrote: ↑05 Sep 2020 11:47lupedafiasco wrote: ↑05 Sep 2020 11:22The NFL seriously needs to have a max contract for QBs. At least this way the open market levels the playing fiels of having a talented QB.

I mean, that's just a silly way to list it when the guy signed the extension while having THREE years left on his contract.
He went from a 3-year $39.9 million contract to a 5-year $95.4 M contract.
He went from $13.3 M/year to $19.1 M/year

These beat reporters have to make the contracts sound good, as the agents are one of their biggest sources of breaking news. Gotta keep them happy.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑08 Sep 2020 12:42I mean, that's just a silly way to list it when the guy signed the extension while having THREE years left on his contract.

This is exactly why I feel good every time the first tweets and reports of a Packers contract has no details in it or just the vaguest ones. Means agents haven't gotten a shining victory...BF004 wrote: ↑08 Sep 2020 12:54These beat reporters have to make the contracts sound good, as the agents are one of their biggest sources of breaking news.
