Didn't the Packers already pay most of his $66 million dollar deal? So, in reality, he could sign for a minimum this year on a prove-it deal with another team. Or for that matter, a 3 year deal with a low cap hit this year and an increasing one the next two years. But his time playing football is limited at this point. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most DE don't last much past age 30.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑15 Mar 2022 14:39It wouldn't surprise me, given age and injury, if Z winds up taking less; but he wouldn't have done that for us, and his contract was untenable. He's a guy who if he were a free agent, we could have let him test the market and had a great shot at retaining. But as a $25M cap figure approaching the league year, he absolutely had to go.

Patrick did a good job. But with Jenkins coming back, Runyan emerging, and our C back, he's a depth guy for us. Good that he got an opportunity to start, even with da Bears.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!
Yes, let SF watch him underperform.
If we didn't pay him Denver or some other team would have. This is the going rate for QBs of his caliber.Yoop wrote: ↑15 Mar 2022 14:33I think it's team friendly in the respect that we now have cap space to keep most of our talent, Rodgers is no different then most of the players, to them its all business, and they want to be paid according to there production, it's not so much about the amount of the check, it's whether the amount is more then the next best player at there position, when the team admits that Rodgers should be the highest paid player in the league, it says we are willing to pay him as such, we shouldn't be surprised when it happens, or that eventually the bill will become do, I'am happy that the team was able to back load it and keep the cap hit low.go pak go wrote: ↑15 Mar 2022 13:40Yeah. I'm fine with bringing Rodgers back.BF004 wrote: ↑15 Mar 2022 11:53
Yeah, this is still all the right way to go, but a little disappointed in the deal to be honest. Really thought Mr. It's Not About The Money might actually put his money where his mouth is.
Any way, done is done, we got a window to go win some Super Bowls, lets go $%@# do it already.
But I never want to hear "team friendly" or "Rodgers not caring about the money" again.
He absolutely does. The 2024, 2025 and 2026 Packers are paying for Rodgers. Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, Rasul Douglas and our O and D line are paying for Rodgers. Our lack of WRs are paying for Rodgers. Robert Tonyan possibly not being a Packer is paying for Rodgers.
That's our reality.
sure I think it's important to plan for tomorrow, but I think it's more important to live in the now, prepare the best you can for the present, and the team just did that.
Looks like 8 million over 2 years.
You are simply a better team with durable, reliable, versatile Lucas Patrick on your team at $4 million per.

Aren't we still like $3-7 million over with just under 4 hours to go? Same with many other teams? I feel like the news has slowed to a trickle, or is it just being overwhelmed by the Rodgers stuff, so no one is scooping the under-the-radar stuff until it becomes official? Like the Cobb pay cut seems like a given and the easiest thing to take care of. Expected we'd know by now.
Yeah, we'll still make a move or two.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑16 Mar 2022 11:13Aren't we still like $3-7 million over with just under 4 hours to go? Same with many other teams? In order of likelihood at this point.
Cobb paycut
Crosby cut/paycut
Adams extension
Jaire extension
Amos extension
I still wouldn't be shocked at a few moves from the list above and a Rasul Douglas signing.

How are you not able to wait a couple of nanoseconds? What difference whether you know now or, gasp, tomorrow? Think of being stationed overseas 4-5 decades ago and not knowing draft results until the next week.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑16 Mar 2022 15:18HOW DO WE NOT HAVE ANY UPDATES, ANYWHERE ON TWITTER OR ON THE NFL NETWORK OR ANYWHERE, ABOUT HOW WE GOT UNDER THE CAP BECAUSE TIME IS UP AND IT HAS TO HAVE HAPPENED
