Saleh probably opposed making a trade for Davante Adams. Rodgers...er, I mean Woody Johnson...had no alternative but to move on.

That's my bet.

I wonder if Davante ever considers how organizational turmoil always seems to follow Rodgers...? :dunno:

I'd be blown away, very much doubt it :dunno:

I 've allowed myself to defend Rodgers to much, I have to admit his ego ruins his relationships with his coaches since McCarthy days, it's his way or he acts like a spoiled brat, I should have paid more attention to the shrug off with Saleh after that win, easy to see why the Jets havn't been winning for years.

Wow, Rodgers turned on the guy quick. They can still win their division!
If his puppet, Hackett, gets the interim job, I think we can read all there is to read from this situation.
Belichick?
There's a lot of bad blood between the Jets and Belichick though:
On January 4, 2000, when Belichick was introduced as head coach to the media—the day after his hiring was publicized—he turned it into a surprise resignation announcement. Before taking the podium, Belichick scrawled a resignation note on a napkin that read, in its entirety, "I resign as HC of the NYJ." He then delivered a half-hour speech explaining his resignation to the assembled press corps.

In about the time of 1 year, the Jets have gone from Super Bowl hopeful to complete dumpster fire.

When it comes to AR8, look at how he plays well with others (including staff and coaching). He isn't doing so well in that, from McCarthy to MLF to Selah. This is another good move by Guty to trade him to the Jets. And the worse the Jets become, the better the deal looks.

Yes, of course I am aware. But the Jets organization and their fans, by and large, would support the move IMO. Rodgers needs a coach that he can look up to. Someone who has the track record, the leadership, and the authority to put him in his place and run the team. History has shown that when Rodgers, and not the HC, is the team alpha, the team fails to achieve its goals. Unlike some, I believe that Rodgers still has enough physical talent to win a Super Bowl. Belichick is the only available option who I can think of who wouldn't take any &%$@ from Rodgers, even bench him if he had to. And Rodgers wouldn't be able to say or do &%$@ because, kiss the rings.

Wow that was pretty stupid of the Jets to fire him

If only they could have just fired him in the offseason, then he could have been our DC.

The Jets are like the Browns (2nd Tier at best). Bills, Ravens, Chiefs rule the AFC. Saleh was in a no win situation. He should be happy to get the hell out.

The epitaph of Saleh's firing will play a role in Rodgers' legacy. And just watch to see if more isn't added to it in a similar way. I'm feeling he wants to continue beyond this year still. Is he gonna survive the New York fanbase that long?

Rodgers def was involved in this…but Selah was trash as a HC. Trash in the press conferences. He’s a great DC, but that’s it for now

Apparently right before getting fired, Saleh demoted Hackett off offensive play-calling duties. Drama intensifies. AR set to appear on McAfee's on Wednesday.

PFT:
At a meeting on Tuesday morning, Saleh informed the coaching staff that passing game coordinator Todd Downing would become the game-day play-caller, with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett demoted. Hackett wasn’t being fired in the classic sense, but it was going to be his decision to whether he stayed.

Then, after the meeting, Saleh found out he was being fired in the classic sense.

If that report is true then it leaves very little doubt that Rodgers got him fired, especially if Hackett stays in charge of playcalling. Hackett is Rodgers's lickspittle.

It’s all over X now from multiple reputable sources.

Rodgers will say nothing interesting on mcafee. He will say nice things about Selah but not actually defend him, and he will deny he had anything to do with the firing

Mcafee will enjoy about 10m views as people forget who rodgers is and think he will say anything of value.

Rodgers past success has really blinded him to the way offenses need to be run in todays game. The passing game evolved so quickly to what it is now. It’s hard to pass the ball if you aren’t willing to go under center and run play action. He just wants to sit back in shotgun and snap the ball with 0 seconds all the while throwing insanely difficult passes that rely completely on chemistry, timing, and elite precision.

At the top of his game when he had the ability to extend better and make plays with his legs it would work but those days are gone. Worst part is I don’t think anyone will ever get through to him either.

Good point. Lafleur tried for two years to modernize rodgers game and bring him out of needing to play hero ball. Rodgers seemed to basically refuse and wanted to do things the old way.

If I remember right the year before Davante left Rodgers did embrace the LaFleur offense and it was pretty successful. After Adams left he wanted to go back to the way he used to play but at that point the WR room was either too inexperienced or just really bad and Rodgers just had enough with Gutenbumst lack of concern with bringing in WR talent.
