Re: Week 14 Games

Brock Purdy will be found out. It is usually the case with a rookie 1st time starter that they can do really well at first. THEN comes the tape study by the opposing defenses.

That really won’t help. The hindsight is usually a lot better than foresight.
That said, it was reasonable to believe that Savage would progress. And who wouldn’t want a Safety with that kind of speed? We haven’t had that since Nick Collins. And very few teams ever get that.
All of us can bitch about a bust here and a missed pick there and every once in a while we may have been right even before the pick. Every year, every team misses out on 250ish players. That doesn't mean we should complain about it every time one of those 250 does good things with their other team...
:-)
the reason we lost in 2020 was because we dropped 7 passes, two very key drops, one was to Adams for a TD, and the other would have been one as well to either Lazard or Tonyan.Labrev wrote: ↑12 Dec 2022 14:34So, using hindsight, the pick we used to get our starting C and starting CB. Unless we got Douglas and Nixon in this alternative universe, our CB room would suck, which is what did us in in 2020 way more than a lack of WRs did.
Bigger issue, you'd likely have a lousy C. Weren't you complaining about how much the OL made Rodgers look bad, how do you think it would have looked without a high 2021 pick to get a C?
Using four high picks to get Justin Jefferson would have been outrageous.
Heard they played aggressive man on early downs and then mixed in 2 high zone on 3rd downs to keep Tua guessing. Basically expect man and have to adjust to zone in the fly.
I would argue Kevin King, Mike Pettine, the STs and Mennenga had as much to do with it, if not more.
Actually, I have some idea. Trading up for a luxury like Olave when they don't even have the foundational pieces to rebuild around gives me an idea of how hopeless their prospects are.you have NO IDEA how long it will take NO to be a competitive team again
building a defense is a act in futility,
Oh lord, help.this has been one of the most mis managed situations in all of sports.
Olave isn't a luxury, not to any team, the first thing Thompson did was draft Greg Jennings after a losing season and getting rid of two OL men, the idea that you build the team,( OL,DL, whatever) sounds great, problem is they normally don't score points, and points matter, we have been short on point scorersLabrev wrote: ↑12 Dec 2022 17:04I would argue Kevin King, Mike Pettine, the STs and Mennenga had as much to do with it, if not more.
WRs were generally doing more than enough to win every week, whereas the player, unit, and coaches above were weighing us down and even cost us a few games. They had an off-day which (partly) cost us the game that day. It's too bad, but it happens.
It would have been way smarter to trade up for a CB. We needed Eric Stokes that year more than we needed Jefftain Justinson.

Was Bahk hurt in 2020, I remember moving Turner to LT last year? granted we lost by 17, but 2 drops for probably 14 points could have changed the outcome, plus there where 5 other drops, some surely for 1st downs, why anyone would think drive stalling drops or points off the board are less impactful then flopping the tackles, the tackles getting beat didn't cause those drops, those pass rushers didn't erase what would have been 14 points.packman114 wrote: ↑12 Dec 2022 17:37We lost in 2020 and 2021 because Bakh got hurt and they decided to move Turner to LT. Especially last year when Nijman was playing good enough to keep the line intact. Not because of dropped passes.
He drafted Jennings in Round 2, after trading DOWN from 36 (and passing on Chad Jackson, who was every Packer fan's Justin Jefferson that year) to 52, practically the opposite of what the Saints did.
... to replace the crappy starting OL from the previous year... with high draft picks at OL, like Daryn Colledge (who he took BEFORE Jennings, btw) and Jason Spitz.after a losing season and getting rid of two OL men,
Hey yoop, remember when you were crying about how the OL was keeping Rodgers from making plays?the idea that you build the team,( OL,DL, whatever) sounds great, problem is they normally don't score points, and points matter, we have been short on point scorers

for the fact that yoop won again on sucking in a thread derail (lord knows I've fallen victim)
for the phrase after phrase that yoop has wrong.
Let's just move on guys. Nobody is going to convince yoop otherwise and we certainly know yoop won't have an argument that makes any sense.
what doesn't make sense is not selecting a WR more ready to play then Amari Rodgers or the 3 stooges for over 7 years and using all the high picks on a defense that was never top 10.go pak go wrote: ↑12 Dec 2022 19:16

Which you complained we were doing with bad OL play, now inexplicably act like OL is not on par with skills for importance because they... don't score points.
never said ya don't need quality OL play, but imo ya don't need pro bowl talent there to be a good offense, first thing Ted did was dump the high priced guards and draft replacements, and add a couple receivers for Favre, and then another 3 in the next few years for Rodgers, cause thats what it takes to win in this league, building a great defense is a act in futility, minus a ton of top 15 picks it's doubtful it will ever be top 10, and if it should beat the odds and become that good, it has such a short shelf life it rarely lives up to that investment for long, soooooo, IMHO you do your do diligence and draft both sides of the ball, but with a preference for players that put points on the score board, Ted new that, then since 2015 he neglected to do that, and we've been losing PO games ever since.Labrev wrote: ↑13 Dec 2022 09:37Which you complained we were doing with bad OL play, now inexplicably act like OL is not on par with skills for importance because they... don't score points.
Weird that your own post history agrees with what I'm saying, until you randomly decide you want to die on the hill of a totally different opinion.
haha, our coaches suck, our QB sucks, players become stars as soon as they leave here, funny how that works in reverse to, we add the Smith bros and they become stars, Amos too, and Woodson years ago became DPOY, in reality it's do to a new system, coaches and atmosphere, players simply rededicate themselves for there new team
