This is actually pretty interesting and has the ability to change a lot of things long term.
Good luck with the Cowboys, Giants, and 49ers.

The Vikings and Raiders would be great fits but those teams will be in no position to draft him unless something unforeseen happens. They’re just not bad…enough.

I'm sure this isn't him spouting off his mouth yet, but wherever this list came from, why on Earth would it include the Vikings? Just because of JJ? I can't imagine a talent that can command his own destination would choose Minneapolis in his Top 5.

Not new, but NIL does change things somewhat
This is what I think potentially changes everything on that front.

Can a person who gets drafted return to college?

Not right now, no. They completely lose their amateur status the moment they get an agent and declare for the draft. That might be a lawsuit in the future, however.

Agent doesn't appear to matter. Once they declare for the draft, they can't go back.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the draft, players must have been out of high school for at least three years and must have used up their college eligibility before the start of the next college football season. Underclassmen and players who have graduated before using all their college eligibility may request the league’s approval to enter the draft early.

Players are draft-eligible only in the year after the end of their college eligibility.

Before the draft, NFL Player Personnel staff members confirm the eligibility of draft prospects; that means researching the college backgrounds of approximately 3,000 college players each year. They work with NCAA compliance departments at schools across the country to verify the information for all prospects. They also check the rosters of college all-star games to make sure that only draft-eligible players play in the games.

The Player Personnel staff also review all of the applications submitted by players who want to enter the draft early. Underclassmen have until seven days following the NCAA National Championship Game to declare their intentions to do so. For the 2017 NFL Draft, 106 undergraduates received NFL approval to enter the draft, as did 13 players who graduated without using up all their college eligibility.

Once players have become draft-eligible or have declared their intention to enter the draft early, the Player Personnel staff work with teams, agents and schools to clarify the players’ status. They also work with agents, schools, scouts and teams to enforce league rules for Pro Days (where NFL scouts come to colleges to observe prospects) and private workouts.

During the draft, Player Personnel staff confirm that all players who are drafted are draft-eligible.

Are we sure that young Mr. Jenkins is "Packer people?" (Whatever that means).

I seem to recall a bit of bad blood between his uncle and the team when Cullen was not re-signed in the offseason after the 2010 Super Bowl win.

I was a big fan of Cullen's. Worked his way on to the team's game day roster and shone pretty brightly for us for a while. Was disappointed we didn't keep him.

Cullen got on the wrong side of Teddy T. at least that seemed to be our impression, the flip side is Ted offered what seemed a fair offer, but the market had inflated Cullen's worth, whatever, I agree what Jenkins brought was missed after we let him go.

Cullen was a great talent when he was 'on' but that only ever lasted for like the first four weeks of the season. Dude was always banged up and then his play would fall off a cliff. And tbh he was also kind of a liability against the run, even as a 300 lb. man. You like having that guy as part of your rotation, mainly as a pass-rush specialist, but not a guy I would pony up to keep around.

right, we still havn't finished up rebuilding the offense, stay focused :)

obviously we need to see more this season to determine what needs we have, right now I think OL and RB are our two biggest needs.

as to stopping the run, never really a big issue for me, we have the players right now that we could do much better, simply use a 30 front and use less nickel package, Barry needs to have more faith in our secondary to just man up and play, the guy coaches scared.

people complain about that with Lafleur, lot's, to me they are focused on the wrong coach. :)

Packers win only moved them from 6th to 7th.

Buffalo and Jets both at the moment not in the playoffs, not insignificant for our picks.

I don’t see what anyone’s been seeing in LT Walker. I get it, he’s a 7th round pick so the Packers could save a lot of draft capital if he’s the guy. But that wishful thinking is clouding over the fact that Walker is at best an average NFL LT and a horrible run blocker.

The Packers need to do better. I think Gutey should pick 2 OL in the first 5 picks. Maybe trade down to get an extra pick. A solid left tackle would be at the top of my list. Then maybe another in the 3rd. If Love gets the time to throw he’s only going to be that much better. So will the receivers. They need to greatly improve their OL for both Love and the running game.
Love is the answer…

An average LT who is in his 2nd season after being a project his first year is not something to be upset about. And who says he is average? Certainly not PFF. They graded him 2nd on the O. 1st in the Oline.

I totally agree that the Packers need to get a better Oline. But the weak links so far have been the guards. Both of them, although Jenkins has the injury excuse

I don't have any objection to taking a college tackle. As long as either he or the man he is replacing starts at guard. After a slow start, Myers has been just fine at center for the last 4 or 5 games. Tom is still the class of the Oline. Walker has been good at pass blocking which is a LT's primary job. Run blocking will come with experience because he definitely has the size. But both guards have been a problem. JRJ gets overpowered on run blocking and Jenkins has not been the same player since that ACL and seems to be injury prone since then.

I thought the "even with some moving inside" was a really lovely addition to the tweet for us.

I want Tom at LT. He's our best OL player and his skillset fits the most valuable position. That makes Walker possible still as a developing RT but with Bakh's knee and age, Nijman being a free agent... might want another option there aside from continuing to develop Caleb Jones.

But I agree the interior is a bigger priority with JRJ struggling and Jenkins looking mediocre and Myers remaining ok-but-not-good-enough-for-my-taste.

But I think that this could be another year where we draft 3 OL and hope 1-2 pop. I would personally like to see a C/G, a G/C and a RT/G all selected at some point in the draft. We definitely aren't solid enough at OL, even with Sean Rhyan coming on, to stand pat. But when i say draft 3, that could be a 4th, 5th, and 7th round pick just as easily as it could be a 2nd, 3rd, and 6th round pick.
