Carlson barely made it with no room to spare on the right or with length, while Joseph was dead nuts center with 5 or more yards to spare
Right now I'm leaning towards keeping Joseph and stashing Carlson on our Psquad.

Our kickers have made from 55, 54, 36, and a handful of extra points. I’m not not picking between the look.

Our kickers are having a good day. All around. No misses. Plus experience.

Gotta think that makes the decision easier.

I JINXED IT

sorry.

Also it’s the shorter kicks that have annoyed me with Carlson

Joseph is better on the shorter kicks and frankly has just as good of a leg as Carlson. That 55 yard FG was impressive.

actually i think were talking style points here, Josephs long kick simply had more eye appeal.

I thought the limit for PS stashing was one full season of play, which would disqualify Carlson, or has that been changed??

I think everyone has paid close attention to this kicker comparison, I know my heart pounds less when the ball is headed dead center versus that kick from Carlson which headed right and stayed that way barely clearing the bar, both are good, one looks better

I'm liking McCrary! Runs almost in the style of Ahman Green. Keeps his feet up. Finds openings. Cut back fairly well. Let's keep this one.

Didn't see this game but it looks like we had no problem scoring. It is hard to know what we have with very few starters playing. We aren't gonna fork over for Peacock so we won't see next week's either.

I don't really have many new opinions after watching this one. Roster bubble guys are where they belong. Obvious starters are clearly above the guys who played today, except Bo Melton and Mailk Heath who may also be obvious starters like they were at times last year. Not sold on Carlson, and I don't really have an opinion about who I would prefer.

I guess if I had to form any new conclusions, it would be that on the basis of this performance alone, Mosby should get a roster spot, and on the basis of potential upside as well as today's performance, Kalen King should obviously be kept.

I still am not impressed with Emanuel Wilson at RB, sorry.

Would probably try to keep both backup QBs. I think Sean Clipboard should be backup, solely based on experience in this offense, but Pratt I think has a bigger ceiling.

The game was fun. Hot and easier to really tell what is happening on tv. I think I saw Bogey by the escelator in the Atrium but wasn't sure so didn't say anything. Most importantly, the women were amazing. Sat right next to a nice 25ish yo with short shorts and a tank top, and just on the other side were two 22ish yo with small bikini tops. It was really difficult to focus on the game. :)

But, came away with a few thoughts.
-Carlson really sucks. I had a great view of the north endzone and goal post. His 54 harder likely wasn't good from 55. Joseph's 55 harder would have been good from 59 and was down the middle. Carlson's miss should get him cut. Not sure either are the answer, but Carlson continues to be awful. Before the miss, when the two injured Ravens were being tended to, Carlson took a few warmup swings near the 40. You could tell he was all in his own head based on body language during the few practice swings.

-Dillon is the worst runner at RB on the roster. And it isn't really close.

-WR is so, so deep. Melton continues to make some mistakes, then has the incredible TD catch.

-Clifford is probably QB3. Pratt has a ton more upside. More zip. Better pocket presence. The INT was bad, must not have seen the defender.

McCrary was actually here last year. He got cut in favor of Wilson.

Clifford ended the day with 3.78 YPA. That's terrible. As bad as Pratt's pick was, I'd still take the chance and roll with him as #2.

I've preached patience with Carlson a ton and have generally backed him, but he just doesn't seem to have it. Not at this point in his career, anyway. His kicks still have far too much play/movement in them to have any faith that he's going to be consistent. At least Joseph's kicks, even on misses, are consistently true.

At this point, I'd be more comfortable going with Joseph but maintaining a close eye on roster cuts from other teams. Hell, I'd even be open to Gute offering one of our 5/6/7 WR options to a team with a kicker he liked. This kicker competition has turned into a just-not-as-bad-as-the-other-guy contest.

both are at or near 80%, not great, but not far off the averages of the best, I ran across this list from football Daddy Gil Brandt, it starts with last to first so scroll down, you'll find the best barely above that 80% mark, course thats for a career and not just a couple PS games.

If our kicker hits at 80% he's 28th in the league. Not coincidentally that was Joseph last year.

We won't ever have a top of league % due to Lambeau. But even on a perfect day yesterday for kicking (I was in the stands), he was awful. That 54 harder was likely not good from 55 (I had a perfect view of it), in winter ge would be lucky to gave made it from 48 or 49.

Forget about these ~80% kickers, our benchmark (open stadium, similar weather) should be someone like Robbie Gould:

geesh, Bobbie Gould is a huge leap man, love to have a 84+ average kicker, he's mid pack in this group though, Chicago stuck with him after a 77+ % as a rookie though, and Bobby paid them back well later

obviously the goal is to have a kicker trot out and score should the offense falter, I want the best we can get, lately that seems to be Joseph.

check this list of great kickers
