I would think that if Gutekunst believed he needed to exhibit a sense of urgency as General Manager then the Packers would not currently trail all 31 other NFL teams when it comes adding external talent to their roster,
Well now that is just intentionally being dense, looking for evidence to support your conclusion.

Packers were 9th in total money spent, 7th in first year cash given out.

So right about the top quarter of the league.

We just really didn't need 5 or 6 free agents with the draft yet to come to be honest.

That's what this entire thread has been driving toward, "Gutekunst wants everyone else to be urgent, but he does want to be urgent." Never mind the that we never got a good explanation of what urgency by the GM would look like in our situation. We just signed one of the top FA CBs, filling a hole in the roster. We just signed one of the top FA interior offensive lineman, filling a hole in the roster. It would have been nice to get a WR or an edge, but they went for crazy cash. Bad GMs make a move, just to make a move.

There's another hole filled!... that's what she said!

A speedy WR and return man.

Now tied with Ravens and Bengals for least!

I mean, this whole exercise of tallying "total number of outside talent brought in" as a measuring stick for urgency is kinda silly.

Did the roster improve with the FA additions acquired in relation to the subtractions? I'd say yes. Whether it qualifies in some subjective measure of "urgency" for...whomever... doesn't even remotely concern me.

If you keep Jaire then sure. If you drop Jaire this team went from good to good and really didnt improve at all. Myers was so bad that any improvement is a positive. Banks is just an average guard so you went from bad player to fine. Hobbs is a downgrade from Alexander any way you slice it. Even from availability, it's a horizontal move. If healthy you went from a really player to a pretty good player.

The draft could improve the team but every team around the NFL gets a draft.

What is really concerning is the Bears got significantly better. I know they win the offseason every year but this one feels a bit different plus the coaching changes. The Lions were already significantly better than us and made their additions. The Vikings kept around a lot of their players and made some moves. We are in the most competitive division in football and added an average guard and an often injured pretty good CB to replace a better player. I dont see the urgency. I see status quo.

I could see this season going any possible way. I could reasonably see us winning the division. I could also see us finishing dead last. First time in a long time I’ve thought that going into a season.

I just keep thinking we are a blocked FG away from going 0-6 in the division. That’s not a team trending in the right direction. I think they’re a fine team but they aren’t doing a good job keeping up with the division and ultimately that’s what helps you get into the playoffs. It’s rare to face both the worst AFC and NFC division in the same season like we did last year.

hardly anything ever stays the same, last year we saw improvement in defense and the running of Jacobs, and a decline with LOve and the receivers, brought about mostly because of Love getting hurt early, and receivers dropping passes, I don't expect that to be the same this season, same with pass rush, we concentrated and focused on stopping the run and did so, but it came at the expense of getting to the QB, there should be a happy medium, and I expect our coaches will get that right.

the difference between us and the rest of this division is minuscule, it's the passing and getting after the QB IMO, and it's fixable, and probably with our existing players, and a couple hits in the draft.

the Vikes and Detroit just finished the best season either team has had in 30 years, not sure they repeat that, teams rarely do, we have been the exception as much or more than every other team, Chicago is on the right path, but their no were near the finish line, I know I'am optimistic here, but if we can fix those two issues we can dance with anyone
