My votes, with a 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place for each:

MVP: Rodgers, Mahomes, Allen

OPotY: Henry, Kelce, Kamara
DPotY: Donald, TJ Watt, JPP

Executive of the Year: Tampa, Buffalo, Washington (I know it's people not teams, but I'm feeling lazy)
CotY: McDermott, MLF, Flores

ORotY: Jefferson, Herbert, Gibson
DRotY: C. Young, Jeremy Chinn, ??

Comeback Player of the Year:
Roethlisberger, Alex Smith, ?

And for a little conversation piece, I struggle with the criteria for Executive of the Year. It feels like, especially lately, the criteria is making moves that help the team win in the same year. That makes sense, but I also feel like it rewards a specific type of team building that I actually don't love as much.

So last year, I loved Gutey for it because he signed the 4 FAs and drafted Savage and Jenkins who both made the all-rookie team. Not to mention little things like getting Ervin mid-year and such.

So this year, you look around at the top FA acquisitions and best rookie classes and you have to see, like Brady and Gronk and AB to the Bucs plus drafting a starting OL and S that are playing well. In Buffalo, it's mostly the Diggs trade and the OL improvements this year. Washington has two great rookies and cleaned house on malcontents.

But I looked back over the years, and saw that TT won in 2011. What happened in 2011? Well, we ad just won a Super Bowl and went 15-1. But who did we add to that team? A backup OT as a rookie? WR5 and return man in Randall Cobb? That year the award was given clearly for more than a single year. It was almost an apology for trashing the Rodgers pick; a make-up for ignoring the contributions from prior years (though he also won in 2007 when they went to the NFCCG).

Looking at the award from THAT perspective, like, Gutey is right in the mix. We are winning right now because his draft picks are turning into stars and his free agent acquisitions are balling out (with the sometimes exception of Preston). Jaire and Jenkins are Pro Bowl starters. Gary and Savage have elevated their game. Turner and Amos have also elevated their games. And Z is still Z--less pressure rate but still sack production out the wazoo. Not to mention Barnes. Then you look at the big AJ Dillon game and envision the role he may have throughout the playoffs. Well from a long-term view, Gutey is deserving.

I just feel like the immediate criteria has come to dominate, so I put my votes accordingly.

About 15 guys from IR that didn't play the year before.

Hey, Football Outsiders showing some love!
Introducing 2020's EdjSports Head Coach of the Year, Matt LaFleur! The second-year Packers head coach moves up four spots this week to take the top spot after finishing 7th last season. He finishes 3rd in both our EPI and CCI rankings.
(this chart makes up the bulk of it, but they also have a cool little graphic on best and worst 4th down calls based on impact of win% and some more content at the link)

Jeez, YoHoChecko, look at some of the variances for guys like Payton, Carroll, and Arians. I'd like to know what is going into these rankings and kudos to LaFleur, regardless.

Edj Power Indexes (EPI) Ranking

This is a cumulative ranking of the Edj Power Indexes (EPIs) including Offensive Pass, Offensive Rush, Defensive Pass and Defensive Rush. This ranking is a reflection of how teams performed in every situation during the season.

Offensive Play Calling (CCI) Ranking

This ranking is based on an analysis of offensive play calling on 4th downs and compares teams in terms of GWC lost or gained, on a normalized basis so that all teams are given the same test. Additionally, the CCI rankings are adjusted to account for the frequency and situational nature of critical calls to allow for fair comparisons of all 32 teams.

EdjSports Coach Ranking

This ranking is a weighted average of the Edj Power Indexes (EPI) and Offensive Play Calling (CCI) Rankings that provides a more comprehensive assessment of coaching strengths and weaknesses.

I'd give Guty his due, even though I didn't like a couple picks, I can't argue with the production, and I give coach of the year to Lafluer too, he completely revamped our offensive schemes, and even though it took a year to see the results, these newe schemes have given our offense a brand new identity, no longer do we rely on Rodgers and Adams etc receivers to win iso verticals that take a 3 plus count to develop, causing Rodgers to often run around like a chicken with his head cut off, most of the time now the ball is out of Rodgers hands in half the time.

plus all the mis direction runs, pre snap motion have defenses running laterally to cover it, what saddens me is that we waited till two years ago to Hire MLF, it's really hard for me to find fault with anything Matt has done.

Probably makes Josh Allen a bigger threat at this point unless Rodgers &%$@ the bed.

But notice he's 4th for the metric on making the right decisions about 4th downs and such, which makes sense given that he likes analytics.

But 24th in the "how the team performed in all circumstances" metric.

McCarthy 10.

Atlanta 11????????????? Like I don’t even know what to say about that one. Seriously. I couldn’t even name a coach because they have had 2 and are competing for the 3rd draft pick.

Flores 25.

I’m sure that table represents something, just not coach of the year.

I don’t put much stock in that COY ranking but I do like that they have Detroit’s Patricia/Bevell ranked 32nd...and trending down.

Wasn't he at the bottom on another metric that tracked making the right decision?

Dang, if Roeth an Smith are the front runners for comeback player of the year, the award should probably be scrapped. Roeth has been awful for a good chunk of the season. Smith is a much better story, but he's played maybe half a season? It's always been kind of a weird award anyway. In truth it's closer to a "Biggest Name Who Was Injured Last Season" award.

Remembering how uninspired I felt after hearing about both the MM and MLF coaching hires reminds me of how little I actually know about football.

...and how mad I was when the Aaron Rodgers pick was announced

...and how confused I was when the Elgton Jenkins pick was announced

Aldon Smith probably deserves it more than anyone.

Antonio Brown could really be in the convo as well.

Smith and Brown were "coming back" from their own misdeeds and that isn't (and likely shouldn't) be rewarded in this way.

Smith's on the list not because of how well he played, but the fact that he made it back at all after almost dying and REALLY almost having his leg amputated due to a football injury. It's not necessarily supposed to be an award for on-field play. It's supposed to be an award for the ability to come back. Ideally, you have someone who had a great year after missing time. But it's just as worthy to say someone had a great comeback from something awful, even if they played poorly.

Sometimes, it's the best season after an absence. Sometimes, it's the longest-shot return to the field. Awards are allowed to have various interpretations. But I do regret that I went with Roethlisberger because I over-value QBs the same way other awards do. That's a fair criticism

Agree, I don’t know the definition of the award.

What Aldon Smith in-particular did is remarkable, regardless of why he was out.
