Spent the last couple days ripping out the 15 yr old carpet in the master bed and replacing it with some deluxe vinyl planking. Wasn't near as hard as I thought it'd be...thankfully! Love the new look.

That looks great.
Do the transition slip right!

We got new carpet in living room and hallway today. Nice nylon Stainmaster. Other stuff was poly original to house (2003).
We put down laminate in our old house's kitchen in like 2009. Now with a toddler we will pay a professional when we get vinyl in a few months. After new cabinets, though, which should be in Sept. Will order early next week.

Thanks!
And yep, the baseboards and new transition strips going in today. Not the cheap metal strip, the good stuff.

Device charging cabinet I finished a couple months ago. Made from solid walnut. Tried mail ordering the lumber for the first time, eh, would much rather pick the pieces myself. But covid and all. Took me about 9 months to build.

New project is pair of speakers. Laminating birch plywood and cherry.
When finished they will be a pair of 36" towers with 2.5 way speakers; a tweeter and 2x 6.5" woofers, one crossed lower than the other.
In the background you can see another project I finished during the cabinet project, a boombox (wifi/Bluetooth). My shop speaker blew, which made it an urgent project, need tunes in the shop.
The speakers and boombox are meant to go together. Boombox can sync with the stereo. Speakers aren't for the shop though.

Damn, that's good wood work.
The wife has been complaining about lack of pantry space for quite a while now. Got to looking at it and decided to see if I could quell some of the pantry hate.
Knocked a hole in the back wall and, just as I figured, there was a whole lot of open space back there!
Had to move the return air vent duct but otherwise pretty straight forward. Then on to creating the walk-in pantry.
Flooring and paint. Added some shelves.
Result? One happy wife!
...although now she says I didn't make it big enough.

Thanks for reminding me I need some pics up.
Took out a closet before we extended our hardwood floors, then added some wainescotting and shiplap to our guest bedroom.
Did everything but the floors.

We have been doing some projects ourselves and in some cases having professionals. Got carpet a few months ago. Redid our fireplace over Memorial Day weekend.
We had our new kitchen cabinets delivered a few weeks ago. Going to reuse counters and backslash from two years ago. Went through cabinets with the installer and almost half need to be reordered due to manufacturing defects or shipping damage. Installer said usually one or two need reordering, not 10.
So now we had to push back our vinyl plank install to mid December. That floor is already paid for and at the warehouse of the flooring store in Green Bay. Moving to mid Dec should give us enough time just in case some of the replacements need replacing.

Well, kitchen and floor almost done. Cabinets in except for one side of uppers, where 3 of the 4 there needed to be ordered for a third time due to defects. They are expected to arrive first week of January. Navy lowers, light gray uppers. We reused counters, sink, and backslash since they were only 2.5 years old. Everything actually fit together pretty well, and the counter (12 feet long plus a 4 foot penninsula) didn't break moving it. Toe kick and hardware needs to go on yet when the other cabinets arrive.
Flooring will be finished tomorrow probably by noon, and plumbing redone tomorrow afternoon. We already put in new window coverings and dining room hanging light. Painted on Tuesday (yellow to white).
Might be able to post some pics tomorrow.
I still need to caulk tomorrow and do some electrical on Saturday.
Oh, and five min after getting dropped off by my wife, the 2 year old finds a sharpie and marks up the brand new floor. We got it off but I was soooo pissed. She can never leave anything alone.

Until we see pics, this never happened...

Just a couple I quickly took.

So we started back in June to replace our windows with hurricane windows. This one used to be a sliding glass door. We took it out and put a window in. Concrete block and then Hardee siding. This was, believe it or not, cheaper than a new sliding door that is hurricane-rated.
I came into this world KICKING and screaming, naked, and covered in blood that wasn't mine.
I am prepared to go out the same way if I need to.

And the newest one, New metal roof.

So back in the fall of 2019, we started to redo our kitchen. this is what it looked like when we started to tear it apart. The Drywall behind the cabinets had mold on it so I ripped it out and replace it. In the back corner behind the Fridge, you can see the built-in pantry that we took out.
The countertop in front here was a step up and the higher part was "bar" height. We took that down to counter height I also took off the drywall and put tongue and grove for a kickplate. Lights underneath, a stainless fan that vents outside.

Finished it up with a new stainless hood that vents outside and 3 pendant lights over the counter. The counter now sits the same height as our kitchen table so the 8 chairs now have someplace to live. The backsplash is glass tile. My wife put that up.
