Warren Sharp Football puts out a graphic on Strength of Schedule to start the year...and again at mid-season
Right now, the Green Bay Packers are blessed to have the toughest remaining schedule of any team in the league
Sharp Football pre- season SOS is based on predicted wins for 2024 ( as opposed to 2023 wins)
Their midseason SOS is based on current ratings. Clearly the overall strength of the NFC North is both a surprise and a stiff challenge.
The Packers pre-season SOS was pretty close to the middle of the pack, now they've moved to the top ( toughest) spot
There are some tough-looking games for sure, but I ain't as askeered of the NFC North teams as the rest of the nation seems to be.
Note: Sharp also does SOS for offense, defense separately - see more in the link below

Have the Packers re-signed the crappy long snapper yet? Any new tryouts?
You locals hear anything?

Yeah, pretty telling the top three remaining toughest schedules all reside in the NFC North, with MN the outlier at #10. I believe they've already got a few divisional games behind them, though.

I've seen several articles that are knocking the Packers OL for their run blocking - and this graphic doesn't paint a pretty picture either in terms of run blocking prowess
However:
The Packers are currently # 5 in the league in Rushing yards per game (155 ! )
The Packer are currently # 8 in rushes per game
The Packers are currently #6 in yards per rushing attempt
So apparently there is a disconnect between all of the computer cowboys and the actual results on the field

Ya, I am not sure why the grades pretty much across the board point to poor OL play in the run game. It should at least be average. That said, rushing yards per game and rushes per game are a bit swayed by our 2 weeks with Willis. Yards per rush is another story. That should be an indication we are doing better than the "metrics" say.

look at the defenses we've faced, the Texans stand above the rest and our OL sure lost that battle, imo Jacobs and Wilson do well when defenses have to focus on coverage, and use 6 in the box, we saw that in the 4th quarter Sunday, texans had to play nickle and dime, and our RB's did better then they had prior, least thats what I think I'am seeing.
other times I see Jacobs running up the back of our OL in the A and B gaps and bouncing it out with marginal success, same with Wilson.
we dominated a couple games against weaker defenses (slower lbers) with stretch runs, of course once ya get that horizontal stuff working it opens up the inside zone running lanes, and we got a lot of yards, personally I think those couple games raises our ranking, jmo.

Makes sense
However, it was the same OL blocking for those games
AND they were run blocking against a defense that was playing the run, loading the box and trying to force Malik to beat them. If anything, those rushing totals should count for more, not less.

i mean thats awesome as long as he stays in his lane and doesnt overstep on Hafley. Hafley seems to be doing a good job, we dont want to prevent him from cooking.

What a bizzarro universe we are living in where I honestly believe Robert Saleh can help this football team more on the offensive side of the ball than the defensive side.

how do we know some of our blitz schemes against Houston weren't whispers into Hafley's ear from Saleh? it's possible sense that is what he was hired to do, help Hafley.

first I heard about the Saleh hire, awesome
Saleh knows this defense almost as well as Hafley, and it's popular, so helping Lafleur on offense makes sense, another set of educated eyes is a plus

I think this very smart from LaFleur: Have an outsider review the 2024 O, so we can make adjustments for the tough stretch after the bye. But the D is still taking shape under a 1st year DC, and since Hafley's been cooking, no need to go muddle the soup with another chef.
