I was always wondering why with AR we didn't even TRY snapping it early every now and again for the surprise factor and making D prep harder.
He did go fast. AR loved to go up- tempo for a couple drives per game, but his default was to use that time to inform his decisions. He wanted as much time to decipher and unmask as possible and using a ton of motion actually hinders the ability to go fast.
One of the things that fans miss - is that with AR making the line calls, GB had the lowest stuff rate of any offense. Year after year. That's due in large part because the QB would decipher the D - and get GB out of poor offensive calls. There are pro's and cons to each strategy...and when you dive into all the nuances, you can see both sides of the coin.
You are 100% correct, but to sal's point, there were times when the offense was stagnant and out of rhythm. Even just a series might help break you out of that. It also forces the defense to declare earlier, eliminates substitutions, and limits the communication on the other side of the ball. It's just a nice change up to use here and there that so many teams utilize effectively and the Packers don't.
Using motion also helps decipher the coverage of the defense.

And the other thing you get out of the motion is that it often puts the run blockers in better position to succeed. When the defense shifts left/right/up/back in response to the motion, sometimes they are shifting right into an oncoming block. Those shifts can make it easier to handle a reach block
I think Shanahan was the one who started this trend and used it to great success- setting up his run blockers and using the motion man as a lead blocker on run plays.

We gonna finally give MLF credit for turning Aaron Rodgers's career around?
I'd like to point out that that was in the first 6 minutes of the first quarter of the Lions game. The Lions took the lead at 9:15 in the first quarter and never looked back.
My money says next year Darnold, playing on a 1-year deal this year, gets a multi-year deal from a team thinking he's finally turned his career around. The Vikings, after drafting their QB of the future this year, aren't willing to out-bid anybody to retain Darnold. Meanwhile, next year JJ McCarthy needs more time to recover from his injury and learn the NFL.
What the Vikings could really use is a one-year stop gap vet QB to tie them over...hmmm.

It's hauntingly ironic that it makes so much sense.
The Jets will be forced to cut Adams, Lazard is super overpaid and a sure cut, and Malik Taylor is a FA, so it's possible the entire Packers East moves to Minny.
BTW, Aaron and the ex-Packers will bleed the Jets bad even after gone. Getting rid of AR will cost a whopping $49 million of dead cap either in one lump or split between two years.
In total, the ex-Packers are gonna account for 64M of dead cap, if the Jets don't split AR's cap charge. 64M is almost a quarter ( ) of projected total team cap space of ~272.5M gone to waste for 2025 season. Good luck!

I get that people like the idea of Rodgers fulfilling the Favre story arc, but being serious, that move does not make any real sense to me, not for Minny. JJ was looking good in pre-season and was poised to start. I have no reason to believe he will be less ready next season than he was this season, with an involuntary year on the bench and learning the playbook.
Besides, if the Vikings O can make Darnold look this good, why would they be worried about JJ, a Round 1-caliber QB?
More to the point, who in their right mind would look at the Jets and WANT Rodgers on their team??
I don't see Rodgers receiving any interest from other teams. He barely had any in the year we traded him, only the sorry Jets and like maybe two others were rumored to be in on him. Then he made the bad team that acquired him much worse!
The dude is a cancer, just like his best friend Golf Cart Dave. His play is no longer good enough to outweigh the severe issues.

Rodgers is washed up. The Jets have the 12th-best defense in the league right now in points. On the Packers, with Rodgers that was a 13-win season. They aren't going to make .500.
I think JJ will be fine. As far as Darnold. Once he leaves MN I don't give a crap. We still have Vikings fans fawning over how Cousins is doing in ATL. Who gives a crap. He's not on my team anymore. I do believe a lot of coaches screw up QBs. They try to make the QB fit their system rather than using the QBs best qualities and changing the coaches system. For me, that's the difference between a good coach and a crappy coach. Learn what your QB does best and design plays to incorporate that into them. It's like trying to make Fran Tarkenton stay in the pocket. Just know it's not going to happen and plan for it as much as you can. Have crappy o-line, roll him out to one side to give him time. Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results is what gets coaches fired.
