Percent of vote the winner got will be in parenthesis, position change vs. 2019 will be in brackets.
Here's how this works:
Each day there is a new thread/poll, starting at #1, on down to whereever we get. The whole point of this exercise is to have something to talk about in the lean news months to carry us to camp. Each poll will be open for voting for 24 hours. New threads will only be created on weekdays. Ties will cause a runoff poll. You may vote up to TWO players (a change that was made mid-poll last year, seemed to work well).
Simply voting is not enough!
Post why you voted for who you did and provide a player to add to the next poll (every poll will be a list of 15-20 guys, new players added in bunches every few days).
Here's the thing. There is no criteria. This is an exercise to foster discussion therefore there are no clear criteria for ranking. Who is better right now? Who will have the best season? Who was better last year? Sort of a combo of them all? Do you take positional value into account? It really doesn't matter.

Preston then Myers or Savage or Douglas
Probably time for a receiver soon.
About time for another batch of players to go up. Jordan Love, Marcedes Lewis, Tyler Davis, Josiah Deguara, Dominique Dafney, Kylin Hill, Yosh Nijman, Jarran Reed, Sean Rhyan, Romeo Doubs, Zach Tom, Kingsley Enagbare, Ty Summers are all players that will likely make the 53 (I'm sure I missed a bunch); in this range (late 20's) there are still a few regular contributors that aren't up.

I am only voting for Preston here with Savage and Douglas, I think, on deck. I'm curious to see where opinions are on Myers vs Runyan. I'm not sure I even have my opinion fully formed, yet.

I went with Myers and Watson.
Myers is a full time starter, not a rotational player. He plays the 2nd most critical position on the Oline. And as a rookie he replaced an all-pro and we hardly noticed. But we sure noticed when he got hurt and had to miss several games.
Watson, IMO, is going to be WR#1 and IMO is going to shock the entire league with how good he is.

After Preston, I view pick 13 as the start of a new tier.
Myers is going to be tough to gauge because he has so few snaps to go off:

Of the 39 centers who played at least Myers’ 293 snaps, he ranked 29th in PFF’s pass-blocking efficiency with zero sacks and eight total pressures. In the run game, he had one blown block for a blown-block rate of 0.9 percent. He was not penalized.

I'm going Preston and Douglas.
Really strange to me to put a guy like Meyers ahead of Douglas.
Douglas won us multiple games last year. AZ and CLE at minimum. Oh and he quietly had games in a row with a Pick 6. He was a field tilter.
In no way, shape or form can I say Meyers was a field tilter. I will not vote just because a dude is a "starter" We don't have to have the 22 players be prototypical starters on a depth chart.

I can't get on board with this at all. The 2020 Packers offensive line was an elite group from Week 1 to Christmas. The 2021 Packers offensie line was nowhere near an elite group. Admirably average when you consider who was forced in the lineup, but make no mistake the 2021 offensive line was a considerable step back from the 2020 offensive when removing Bakhtiari and Linsley.TheSkeptic wrote: ↑27 May 2022 12:23

How crazy is it that Lowry might very well be our 4th or 5th best Dlineman this year...
Great point. Reed should be on this list by now.

So you are going to vote for a CB who will not start, baring injury? Granted, he would start on most teams but the Packers are not most teams and the idea of benching Jaire so Douglas can start is pretty ridiculous to me. Or are you planning to bench Stokes instead, equally ridiculous.go pak go wrote: ↑27 May 2022 12:56I'm going Preston and Douglas.

But by far the most ridiculous is to move Jaire into the slot where he has to tackle RB's while being stepped on and blindsided and run over by Olinemen and TE's and H-backs. I personally don't like the idea of watching Jaire get carted off.
As for field tilter, did you vote for Bakh or Jenkins and if you did, how did you justify that seeing as neither had a pick 6 last season?
This thread allows all of us to use our own criteria. I will take a young player with unlimited potential any day of the week. Both Myers and Watson fit my profile very well. Myers is going to be better than Linsley was - this season.

Bakh and Jenkins are easily field tilters. They make our offensive line elite because they are elite players. I'm not discounting the Oline because they are the ones without a football in their hand. Our 2020 Oline was elite because they were both healthy and our offense was #1 in the league in large part due to our elite Oline.TheSkeptic wrote: ↑27 May 2022 15:56So you are going to vote for a CB who will not start, baring injury? Our 2021 offensive was average. They were not great. They weren't horrible either, which is honestly a pride point based on the players playing, but in no way will I put Josh Meyers at a top slot like this simply due to him being a starter at an important position.
As for Douglas, he will play plenty. I don't foresee us playing #23 exclusively at slot. Especially on early downs as you stated (honestly I expect that Nixon to get a good shot at slot on early run downs).
But what I have overall found is great players find ways to get on the field. Rasul Douglas during his time as a Packer is a great player. Josh Meyers is not that yet. Doesn't mean he won't be, but he wasn't that in 2021. I'd vote for Runyan before Meyers at this point.

I disagree. I think Myers was a capable center as a rookie. He is also huge for a center and still moves well. In today's NFL a center needs to be able to block a NT and he is big enough to do just that without help.go pak go wrote: ↑27 May 2022 16:03Bakh and Jenkins are easily field tilters. I like Douglas too but he is a veteran who was just a journeyman until he came to GB. While he made big plays, he also plays a risky game and is looking at the QB way too much.
In any case, we give different value to different skills. In general I will vote for a rookie or a 2nd year man with unlimited potential over a good but limited veteran. Both Myers and Watson fit what I think is most valuable. I was also very high on Stokes
ehhhh, we play a ton of nickel, or 3 CB sets, dime too, obviously as Walker settles into our coverages that may keep a 3rd safety off the field, but not that 3rd CB, our 3 are so good it would be insane to keep Douglas on the bench, it wont happen, the best 11 play as much as possible, I think there's a rule about that, I bet the Dom said it
I got ta go with Preston here even though it's a close call with Savage, and Douglas is climbing on him.
who knows how Myers will recover, I think we've learned that seeing is believing, Bahk took two seasons to recover and we can't even be sure about that yet, Jenkins as well, we hope, we pray, all 3 are back to pre injury form, but this is a couple slots early for hopefuls and maybe's

Seems like you are putting a lot of weight into potential. But yet completely dismissing Runyan, Walker, Wyatt, etc. who also have tremendous potential.
I don't understand the cherry picking of Meyers. I get Watson. Elite traits at a position with giant opportunity.
Also, surprised to see you not voting for Tonyan.

I still like Tonyan a lot but if Jenkins and Bakh were still on the board I would not vote for either of them yet. The ACL is still a very serious injury and a lot of players never make it back to 100%. Jordy was a good example, it cost him his speed and he was not a dominant player when he returned. I hope that Tonyan and Jenkins and Bakh and Hill make it back to 95% but I fear 2 of them won't.go pak go wrote: ↑27 May 2022 16:39Yeah I guess I just will never understand your calculus.

The rank the roster thread continues to be the most inane exercise on this forum. The only thing worse is that people argue and disagree about said ranking.
