Green Bay

I visited Green Bay last week for the first time in almost 10 years. A couple notes:
1) What's up with all the traffic circles lol, this isn't Europe. When I exited there were no joke 6 consecutive traffic circles.
2) The new HOF is frankly worse. It's like more expensive-looking, but it doesn't have as much stuff and doesn't seem to capture the mystique that the old one did.
3) Point 2 is true, except for the trophy room. I thought that new trophy was pretty damn cool. As were the replicas of the championship trophies. When I approached the room I saw the Ed Thorp trophy by itself in a position of more prominence than even the Lombardis, so I knew something was up. Pretty cool story.
4) The new restaurant is better. Best cheese curds I have ever had, with the possible exception of Curly's Pub a decade ago.
5) Honestly I don't like the luxury seating apparatus on the south end zone (I think south end zone). I liked it better when they didn't have that.
6) The upper parts of the stadium with the rented press boxes were pretty sweet, better than I remember
7) The tour was very slightly worse than the old one, only because they didn't let us go into the stands anymore, but the tour guide was maybe the best tour guide I have ever had for any tour I have ever taken of anything. His name is Joel, if any of yall know him (I know some of yall on here work or worked at Lambeau).
8) The houses need to do a better job with Packers decorations. The ones next to the stadium are obviously pulling their weight but when we went through the neighborhoods it seemed like not every house was decked out in gear, and that's not okay.
9) What is that tailgate building in the parking lot? That wasn't there when I visited previously. I don't like it.
10) I don't like what they did with Lombardi's Desk in the HOF, if that even is Lombardi's desk. That was one of my favorite parts of the old HOF, and now they don't even make it known whether it is his desk or not. Plus it's not as cool.
11) Area around the stadium was built up pretty nicely. NFL should let us host a Super Bowl. So what if all the rich snobs can't get a 5 star hotel, boo $%@# hoo. Packers have done an excellent job with the surrounding area.
12) We better get another ring with Rodgers.

1) why would you not say something ahead of time? Would have loved to meet up for a bevy.
2) See #1
3) Roundabouts >>>> stop and go lights
4) Why didn’t you say you were visiting.

Green Bay's charm changed after Fuzzy and Bart died. There's no tie to the Glory Days other than statues and monuments, and stuff in the Hall of Fame.

I was in GB yesterday and it just kind of hit me that it doesn't have the charm it used to. Not just Lambeau and area, but the whole town. I grew up there, lived out of state from 2001 to 2017, and now live 50 miles south.

Haha I was with some family and we had to get in and get out within like 3 hours. Next time I will though, my brother and his fiancee want to go to a game so I'd be surprised if it's too long before I'm back.

It did seem a bit different, but I was thinking that is just because I am older now

A NFCCG win at Lambeau would help bring back some charm. Just a thought.

I am eying to visit GB for our clash with the Cowboys. I will make a happy 15h drive with my rental car since I am in Texas at that time. Can I safely order Packers tickets via packers.com or which places could you recommend. I think for 300$ (my limit plusminus some bucks) I should get something not too bad. Anything useful to know when I am going to the game?

The NFL has a ticket exchange, I think they guarantee the tix are legit. Locally, you could look into Packer Fan Tours which I think is now called Event USA on Ashland Ave about a mile from Lambeau, or Ticket King, they are located a hundred feet south of the Hinkle practice field in what 30 years ago was a Mr. Donut.

Make sure you walk around and check out tailgating. It will look very different this year and it will take away a little bit from it, because there is construction on the Oneida Street side taking away like 3/4 of lot 1 and 2. Go to the Johnsonville Tailgate area, it is cool and you can watch a band, get an overpriced beer and hang out.
Have a blast, the Mecca is a great place to view a game.

Definitely. I thought about 3s to either go "around the corner" to Jerry's Taj Mahal or to drive 15h to Football's Mecca.
It will be the highlight of my trip bc I wanna see Rodgers when he's still our messiah.
What are the odds of snow (= not just some flakes in the air) in mid-november? I do not think high, right? Cause my car will have the usual summer tires I guess.
