Was that fumble to the Rams yesterday the second time he has fumbled to them?

I ask because I am a little concerned that AJ, an almost always secure guy handling the ball, fumbles at in opportune moments. I think we’ve seen that twice in the playoffs these past couple of years. There’s yesterday too.

Yeah, he almost never fumbles. But when he does, it’s at the worst times of the season. Is this my imagination, or is there a real trend here? Does anybody have some data?

Again, I love Jones. I want the Pack to keep him as long as they can. And there’s hardly a more dynamic guy around. I don’t want us to give him the ball less either. It’s just this one thing… I hope it’s understandable what I’m writing here.

Jones usually fumbles when he gets hit super hard. He’s a shifty guy so it’s hard to land a pure shot on him. It doesn’t happen often. But when he doesn’t see the defender coming, can’t do a shift avoid major contact, and gets popped…he is prone to cough it up.

It seems he does this more in big games because big games are played against good opponents and they are the teams with the types of defenders that can get pure shots on Jones and make him cough it up.

Putting the ball on the ground was one of the knocks on Jones coming out of UTEP and part of the reason he fell to the 5th round. He's done a good job of getting better at ball control, but he still gets it punched out ( at inopportune times) and CBs/LBs will continue trying to pry it loose.
Elite hands at catching the ball, but still room for improvement in retaining the ball post-contact.

Jones also moved past John Brockington on the all-time Packers rushing list with just over 5000 yds in Titletown

I do feel like I’m being a little (not entirely) nit-picky about this. He is more secure with the ball than probably the vast majority of RBs. But it’s those times when it’s a big game or whatnot…

Was the ball ripped out of his hand Monday night?

Basically remove Aaron Jones games vs Tampa and he is pretty decent. It's those damn Tampa games.

as was said it was a take away, not a fumble, there is a difference, sure it amounts to the same thing, a turn over, imo though take aways like Ramsey did should be a foul on the defender, since when did we make it legal to tackle the football.

Agreed.
By memory, they've mostly been at the end of plays - either getting it punched out or as part of the tackle/collision.

I’d have to check back on which exact games. But one was the playoff loss to Tampa. We still had momentum when Jones was hit very hard. I actually think that almost anybody would’ve fumbled on that hit oftentimes. Another was also against Tampa, a team that we haven’t fared well against lately.

Does anybody recall if he fumbled against SF in the playoffs too?

Again, the sample size is small.

weren't you against his resign, Jones has sure lived up to his contract, he'll be around another year, his fumble totals are low, huge producer.

Just a bookmark in this thread. Jones had a key fumble against Detroit in the final week, must-win game.

Packers loss to Detroit was more due to an inept offense led by the Packers QB and Head Coach, not one Aaron Jones fumble. Packers had the ball late in the 4th quarter with every opportunity to march down the field and score ala the Ice Bowl, but instead came up short due to terrible play calling and offensive play execution. It was an ugly season 4th quarter finale in Titletown.

At least Hinterland was serving good tequila and brews after standing up the entire Packers - Lions game.
