Why do you have 2 WRs on this list but not WR1?

Straight copy and paste, minus the QB's, from.....
CBS Sports it was, eww, but I'll take the first copy and pastable table I can find.
Added JSN in.

I'm genuinely confused about Jalen Carter's pre-draft process. I know the reckless driving thing seems to be settled, and the fact that he was street racing is crappy, but forgivable, despite the opposing car having a fatal crash. But skipping the workout at the pro day after leaving the combine early, weighing in at the combine heavier than expected and then at the pro day another 9 pounds more could be a good thing, except that multiple sources said he seemed tired and worn down toward the end of the on-field drills.
Like the judgment comes into play and with DLmen it's always a concern that you get lazy and big and lose explosion. On the field at Georgia, he's exactly what we need. But what will he do once he "arrives"
I'm mixed.
So aside from that, I'm going JSN until he comes off the board.

He scares me. Just seems to have some red flags that he either got super bothered by what happened or doesn't have the fire inside him, etc.
I could see him slide. And I don't think the Packers will take him if he does slide.

It's still Carter for me. Being a little out of shape is fixable. The guy just wrecks &%$@ I'm the trenches. He's a bigan with special talent that doesn't grow on trees. Clark Wyatt and Carter would be scary

If he slid to us then there is something terribly disturbing about him, physically his play is far to good to drop even out of the top 5, even with the demand for QB's, so to drop another 10 slots?????

Carter is such a tough projection.
If he goes top 5: The guaranteed, in- your- checking- account-tomorrow money is at least a $ 20M signing bonus
That means he has a lifetime scholarship that pays him $50,000+ per month for the rest of his life without ever touching the principal
And without ever playing a down in the NFL
How will he handle that largesse ? Does he really really love football ? He's been the biggest baddest dude on the field his whole life- what happens when he gets to the NFL and that isn't the case anymore ? Its so hard to know what's in a young man's heart.
But his DL play is so damn good that somebody will take the risk. Could be a Warren Sapp, could be a Javon Kinlaw.
Could be a Kenny Clark, might be a Robert Nkemdiche. Tough call.

No way that Carter slips to us. But then, there was once a QB who was supposed to go at 1 or 2 that slid all the way to 24. So anything is possible.
He’s in a position of need for us. If he’s so good, you could take him. But I do think there’s an Edge or Safety (also positions of need for us) that are also elite talents that are safer bets for their maturity level. Even OLine at 15 (or 13) is a good thing if the guy is talented, like Skoronsky.

It’s possible. Jeffery Simmons was a top 5 pick and slipped all the way to 18. We even passed on him from some reason. DK was also a top 10 pick who slipped all the way to pick 64. We passed on him 3 times. What I’m trying to say is even if we get discounted top 10 talent we will still $%@# it up.

I am confused also.
2 strikes against him, character and weight control and some of you want Carter?????
Nobody remembers what weight control did to BJ Rajii or Eddie Lacy?
I don't understand drafting a WR high in the 1st round either. I happen to think that Doubs is going to be just fine at WR#2. You want to trade down and take a WR late in the 1st or in the 2nd, fine, but not at #13 or #15. Not with Gary coming off an ACL and Smith getting long in the tooth and no credible TE on the roster.

I think we do this every year. I don't think anyone is saying said players are slipping to us. This is a big board. A ranking.

Don't really want to call this with Carter only at 5 votes.
Don't forget you can vote for more than 1 person.

So what's your pick just any old TE or Edge? That's not a good idea imo. That's what bad teams do reach solely on need. I'm not against an edge of the right guy is there but no freaking way a TE. I like the class but this early would be a complete let down.
As for Carter. He is 9 pounds heavy easy on the weight thing. Did he race a car and make a bad choice sure. Either are close to other red flags in the past
As for WR. I like or guys also but if you can add one more special talent sign me up. Give Love all the Love he can handle

My take on early picks is that you eliminate certain positions due to a full roster or positional value, and take the best player available from the other positions. The QB position is also a binary yes/no depending on your team’s situation.
So for the Packers:
We’re not looking for a QB
I think the roster is too invested at CB and ILB
It’s not great positional value to take an iOL, RB, or even TE this early.
So then you’re ranking the players at the other positions.
I think Jalen Carter is the clear best player, but without understanding him and knowing what’s going on in his head and heart, I’m anxious. Also the 9 pounds between the combine and pro day aren’t the only concerning pounds. He was playing in the 280s or 290s. So he’s gained 30 pounds in 7 weeks. Maybe he’s really just depressed and grieving after being involved in a fatal incident and he’ll shake it off and be as motivated as ever. Maybe he’s just checked out and waiting for a paycheck. I dunno.
After Carter, it’s legit between Will Anderson and JSN for me in terms of, like, most likely to become an elite pro bowl player and most ready to make an impact. I give the edge to JSN both because I think he’s plug and play and because he doesn’t miss any size thresholds while aversion is a little lightweight.
Also, it lets me make my point about who I want most by voting for him immediately.
Next up after him I think I’ll go aversion but then Nolan Smith, who I think will be a valuable defender and teammate as a lock, while other edges feel a little boom or bust

I do value CB really high and I wouldn't be surprised if GB likes one of them. With an all time awful safety group take advantage of a nice cb class. Maybe move Douglas and still have 3 hopefully studs at cb in jaire stokes and rookie with savage ability at slot.
It might not b a need but being loaded in the secondary with young guys is really important

What about some of the new Safeties coming out? I’ve been reading some Safety profiles today and it seems they are writing more about guys who have good coverage skills and could enter the mix with some amount of CB play.

Most of the safeties in this class came in really slow. Like tons of guys in the 4.6s that are supposed to be coverage-oriented. There really aren't many "complete package" players that have any size, any plus athleticism, and any instincts all at once. So for me, if they're all going to be gambles and projects, I'm waiting until Day Three on a safety. This is a big change from my stance prior to the combine. That's not to say there aren't any, and everyone has their favorites, but I'd rather take a flier on some guys like Jason Taylor II (OkSt), Gervarious Owens (Houston), Anthony Johnson Jr. (Iowa St), see if J'Yair Brown (Penn St) falls to day 3 because of his terrible 40-time (4.65).
Corner is valuable, but at the top of the draft, I struggle to invest in heavily-invested positions. We have a top-3 positional contract for Jaire, a starter's contract for Douglas, a 1st-round pick in Stokes, a $4-6 M investment in Nixon as a potential nickel (his incentives are about defensive playing time), and we're talking about Savage as a nickel player on the expensive 5th-year option.
At some point, you need to disperse your investments, and taking a true corner early makes no sense to me. And taking a bad safety early because we're desperate at the position makes even less.
