Fiasco Mock 2.0
Posted: 17 Apr 2023 14:43
I have been waiting a while for the Rodgers trade to see compensation and do a mock but at this point I feel like I'm just keeping my greatness to myself and not sharing it with the forum.
President: I would fire and hire myself. I dont think anyone could possibly steer this team in a better direction than I could.
GM: I would fire Gutenkunst, then rehire him, and fire him again just for fun. The only plan this guy has ever had is to go back on his plans. Draft Love, decide to keep Rodgers, then decide to trade Rodgers costing the organization a ton of money.
Coach: Ill let LaFLeur stay a year but I want it to be well known if I ever hear some bitchness out of him on the podium again like when he said "We need him in the worst way" with tears in his eyes he is up out of here. Cant have a pussy boy coach.
QB: Rodgers is traded for a swap of 1st round picks and we get pick 42.
Roadmap: I feel like I have said this every year for the past 5 years but I would enact a 3 year plan. This year I wouldnt plan on being competitive at all. The immediate goal needs to be clearing the cap of old and bad contracts to make way for the future. So far we have one good draft under our belts for the rebuild that would put us in position to compete in '24 and contend in '25. For that to happen we need to move on from Preston, Bak, Aaron Jones, and Campbell being our bad contracts based on positional value and age. A good core from the '22 draft, a strong class here in '23 and an early draft pick year in '24 will build a nice roster in '25 where we would have a better managed cap and young roster.
Draft:
Panthers- Stroud
Texans- Young
Cardinals- Anderson
Colts- Richardson
Seahawks- Carter
Lions trade to Titans- Levis
Raiders- Paris Johnson
Falcons- Wilson
Bears- Murphy
Eagles- Van Ness
Lions- Gonzalez
Texans- Nolan Smith
Round 1:
Jaxon Smith Njigba WR OSU
I think the path is there for the Packers to land JSN unless someone jumps them. I cant see him going before 7. The Raiders have Adams and a ton of needs. The Falcons took a WR 1st last season, a TE the year before, and traded away a WR. The Bears traded for 2 WRs in the past year. The Eagles have WRs. The Lions just took a WR last year. The Texans would be the ones to do it but I would think wit a defensive coach and just taking a QB they look to get a piece to help their defense.
JSN is the real deal at the position. Hes the next Keenan Allen/Davante Adams/Cooper Kupp. Hes a skilled technician with terrific route running, a good release, great hands, great tracking, good concentration, and he gives effort as a blocker. He is missing size and deep speed but that isnt his game to win over the top or contested catches. We have Watson for that. JSN would shred teams underneath and in space which we desperately need to convert downs or stay ahead of the chains.
Round 2a:
Darnell Washington TE Georgia
Theres too much about this pick being too perfect not to be a Packers player. Hes a Georgia player the Packers have taken a liking to. Hes a dynamic blocker for the position. Its an immense need. Hes a replacement for Lewis except he isnt utterly useless as a pass catcher or overpaid. The Packers really struggled converting downs and in the redzone. Washington has a frame that can score or block in those departments. He also showed an insane ability to change directions. With Watson stretching the field and JSN eating up the underneath and sideline stuff Washington would be deadly running the intermediate middle of the field and working the seam.
Round 2b:
Sam LaPorta TE Iowa
Back to back TEs. LaPorta is everything Deguara turned out not to be. I think you can really move him all over the field and dictate what a defense has to play with Washington as well. Line him up as a FB. Inline off of Washington. Opposite of Washington. Big slot. Theres so much you can do and hes another guy who can win quickly. The added bonus that makes LaPorta unique is his ability after the catch. Ive never seen a TE as elusive as LaPorta which is why I like him in the backfield as well. TE screens would be an instant success with him in the game. Hes a chain mover for sure. His weakness is he sucks at contested catches but with his ability to win in space and after the catch and Washington in this mock you wouldnt be asking him to play that role. With these 3 picks I think we instantly fixed our problem to move the ball and score in the redzone.
Round 3:
Gervon Dexter DT Florida
Dexter is a mammoth DT with rare athleticism for his size. I dont think he is ready now to be anything special but there is a lot to work with. We need to find a 5 Tech. I believe the traits are there to be that 5T but he doesnt play with enough physicality yet. There is a good core with Clark, Wyatt, and Slaton but we dont have anyone like Dexter on the roster. We need to find another DT to help with the rotation and add some juice getting after the QB from inside. Clark is starting to show wear and tear from the way we overused him early in his career.
Round 4:
Viliami Fehoko Edge San Jose St
One of my favorite players in the draft. Hes extremely productive as a pass rusher while offering pretty good size to hold up against the run. I think his future is a rotational edge player you can possibly play on early downs to save your best pass rushers for the money downs. He lacks burst but makes up for it with good technique and discipline.
Round 5a:
Noah Sewell LB Oregon
I like Sewells versatility. Oregon played him all over the field. We need LB depth badly after losing some this offseason and Campbell being up in age. I think Sewell can be a better pro than college player considering he played in the &%$@ Pac-12.
Round 5b:
Juice Scruggs C Penn St
I dont think Scruggs would push Myers for a job just yet but we need insurances. Scruggs has a ton of experience, a team captain, and is considered high character. At the very least he would push Hanson off the roster and be a solid depth piece on the interior.
Round 7a:
Jason Taylor S Oklahoma St
I really like this safety prospect and I hate this safety class. I would take a swing on a late rounder and see what there is and maybe develop him on the practice squad. Taylor has production and tested pretty well plus the hall of fame NFL blood lines.
Round 7b:
Chris Rodriguez RB Kentucky
A do it all back but nothing special about him either. I like him as a rotational player. He is close to 24 and had a DUI to start the year.
Round 7c:
Chris Dunn K NC St
I think teams will have to pay a premium for Moody but Dunn I think will be there. He was really accurate last year missing just 1 kick after shaky 21' and '20 seasons.
Round 7d:
Sevyn Banks CB LSU
He has had some brutal injuries during his collegiate career. Played for both OSU and LSU as a CB. I would give this guy a chance and see if his injuries are behind him. Great size and speed for the position.
President: I would fire and hire myself. I dont think anyone could possibly steer this team in a better direction than I could.
