It's the most uncertain draft in ages.

What do we think the weirdest things, most outlandish things, most interesting things, most curious things that will happen tonight through Saturday?

  • Jalen Carter is an Eagle
  • Myles Murphy goes before Lukas Van Ness
  • BJ Ojulari is a 1st round pick
  • Bijan Robinson goes top 15
  • Brenton Strange (TE) goes before Sam LaPorta
  • Hendon Hooker goes before Will Levis?
  • Only two WRs in round 1
  • Brian Bresee goes top 20 (maybe to the Packers)

Not so bold prediction: Packers will trade back, maybe twice, from 13. Goal is to acquire more offensive weapons.

Bold:
Packers draft a OT first, even while we are doing okay at OLine.
Packers draft a QB in round 3.

Dalton Kincaid, the kid even has a Packer name, Fans will love this kid as much as Jordan will.

my biggest worry is that Brian mimics Ted and takes a QB in the second round, versus taking a edge rusher and OL

best way to instill confidence in a rookie QB is to first protect him, and then give him a bunch of receivers to throw to, Go Pack Go

Titans reach hard for Wyatt, possibly even making him the first WR drafted, is my left-field pick prediction. Alternatively, I can similarly see them go for the hometown hero Hendon Hooker over Stroud and Richardson with their QB need.

Minny drafts a QBotF. Not sure who, but it sure feels like this is Cousins's last year with them + gotta think their HC wants "his guy" at QB.

Jack Campbell goes Top 20. Bijan Robinson Top 15 despite RBs not being valued highly. I have my eye on SEA at 20 being Campbell's specific landing spot. Benton goes Round 1. I think Will McDonald 4 juuuust makes it into Round 1.

Guys who surpise by falling out of Round 1: Bresee, Addison, Kancey.

If the Bears don't take him, I think Skoronski falls to our pick or later. Skoronski is a local kid and a safe pick, but Johnson has better LT talent and they need that blind-side protector for Fields. Tough call if CHI drafts the safe bet at OL or upside, but I am convinced it's one of those two. Can't let Fields get knocked around again. Anyway, Skoronski always looked to me like a guy who'd be overtaken, as we got closer to the draft, by upside guys, and a lot of mocks now have him going at our pick or later.

Can't think of anything bold to predict outside Round 1 drafting, so yeah, those are my #HotTake-s.

Assuming picks #1 (CAR) and #2 (HOU) are QBs, I think pick #3 (ARZ) is gonna set the trajectory for the night.

If the Cards trade the pick away, which I suspect they will, and a third QB is selected, then there will be a scramble for whomever that remaining top QB is. I suspect the first 3 QB off the board will be Young, Stroud, and Levis leaving Richardson as the final Golden Egg (I view Hooker as a significant tier below those 4). The wheeling and dealing to get into position to grab him before he's gone would impact the rest of the night. It could get crazy.

Conversely, if say Houston goes non-QB (Will Anderson and Tyree Wilson seem like popular alternatives) and/or ARZ elects to stay at #3 and select a non-QB stud then I think the remaining needy QB teams will align with the available draft QBs and it'll be a relatively tame 1st round.

Pretty f'ing bold stuff, I know... :cigar:

Hendon Hooker is one of the first 4 QB's drafted. Not sure if ahead of Levis or Stroud.
Despite not a 'good' class, I see 5 WR's going in the first.

Bijan Robinson goes top 12.

Tennessee trades up for a QB.

Saints do a big trade up for pretty bad value.

I see I’m not alone on the Hendon hooker hype train anymore. Welcome.

If I were a team in a position to draft Hooker, I'd be annoyed if we took him in Round One, but I would love him if he were taken in Round Two.

In the end, that shouldn't matter; but emotionally, it really does. He just doesn't have the profile of 1st round pick value... aside from being a quarterback.

Hooker is 6'4 225 and is very accurate. He also has a strong arm.

He was leading UTK to the best season they have had in years before his injury.

He is a great kid too off the field. Strong leader.

The only reason he is not in #1 overall pick conversation is because his age, and because he is injured, and because he only popped for one season.

But remember, Joe Burrow only popped for one year too.

Hooker is going to be a pro bowl QB in the NFL.

That's the only thing I meant when I said doesn't fit the 1st round profile. Age, injury, one-year wonder in a favorable scheme.

But that last one I don't mind at all. It's cause for further exploration, not for ruling out. He, by most accounts, is great in the interviews on the white board and processing. He just wasn't asked to do it as much in the Tennessee system. But it's cause for pause. That's all. Don't disagree with anything positive about him.

Not calling these predictions, but interesting things I think could happen.

Texans tank for Caleb Williams and don't take a QB this year.
Tyree Wilson falls due to medicals.
5 QB's in the first. maybe not that bold, but hasn't happened often.
And 1 Packers one...Packers trade up for a CB or Jalen Carter and are the only team to move up for a non-QB.

There is such a draught of tall and fast boundary WR types, that Quentin Johnston is the first WR taken

Another bold prediction of mine is Packers won't make any big head-scratcher picks on Day 1 and 2! :o

I think this year's draft is a lot more straightforward in terms of what our needs are and what this draft has to offer than years past, especially since we are picking earlier in each round than most years (I feel like there's less variance the higher you pick), so I expect that our draft will ultimately not look too different from the fans' mocks.
