Oh man, I loooooooved Johnson Jr. as a S prospect for us.
But when a guy falls this far in the draft, kinda throws some cold water on it. People are like "I liked him in Round 3!! We got him in Round 7????? DUUUUUDE!!!!!!" To me, that's more worrisome than exciting. 'Sure hope it's just a pure slipped-through-the-cracks case because I love the on-paper read on him.

Yeah. I have no expectations for any of the Rd 6 and Rd 7 guys. The percentages on these guys are really bad. But at the same time, it's the time of year for optimism. Everyone is a future HOFer.
So safety is set for the next decade.
But yes. I think he's another good body to add to our already lots of JAGs bodies. I have no expectations for the safety group this year. But I also don't think that really matters at this point of our football team.

If he comes in and gets starting time, that's a bad sign for us. Most of his weaknesses are things he's going to have to learn over a year or two, but I like him as a long-term prospect. Safety is NOT a rookie position in the NFL, regardless of talent.

I'am sure these same expectation have been made for every late round pick, yet every draft produces guys like Sammy shields
if your considered a NFL prospect your already very good, often it's scheme fit that determines how good ya become, all we can hope for is that the scouts and GM got it right.
I think this may be Gutys best draft, maybe not with studs like Gary or Alexander, but over all starting players, I see 3 very likely starting and a couple more rotational this season.
with so many picks though today the stress level was through the roof

The Texas A&M safety, the Iowa St CB/S hybrid and the UVA CB were incredibly confusing. All were some level of versatile DB that we’re sometimes considered safeties and sometimes considered nickel or corners.
