Rank The Roster: 2023 Edition
1. Jaire Alexander (43%)[
+2]
2. Aaron Jones (26%)[
+6]
3. David Bakhtiari (34%)[
+1]
4. Kenny Clark (50%)[
-2]
5. Rashan Gary (57%)[
+1]
6. Elgton Jenkins (54%)[
-1]
7. Current (xx%)[--]
Percent of vote the winner got will be in parenthesis, position change vs. 2019 will be in brackets.
Here's how this works:
Each day there is a new thread/poll, starting at #1, on down to whereever we get. The whole point of this exercise is to have something to talk about in the lean news months to carry us to camp. Each poll will be open for voting for 24 hours. New threads will only be created on weekdays. Ties will cause a runoff poll. You may vote up to TWO players (a change that was made mid-poll last year, seemed to work well).
Simply voting is not enough!
Post why you voted for who you did and provide a player to add to the next poll (every poll will be a list of 15-20 guys, new players added in bunches every few days).
Here's the thing.
There is no criteria. This is an exercise to foster discussion therefore there are no clear criteria for ranking. Who is better right now? Who will have the best season? Who was better last year? Sort of a combo of them all? Do you take positional value into account? It really doesn't matter.

I voted Watson. Hoping he makes a big jump this sophomore season.

I'm not ready to go Love yet. I've seen Dillon given the ball over and over on brutal soul crushing drives to close out games, steamrolling defenders. Clearly the run is going to be a heavy focus this year, Dillon and Jones both will be fed a lot.
I think Campbell belongs up there too before Love, maybe Watson as well. Do think that Quay is going to make a big jump.

I'll go with Watson, if he can continue his trajectory from last year, we have him too low already. Campbell is a pretty strong arguement, Love is on the radar too for next pick.

Wait a minute...
Jonathan Owens was added BEFORE Tyler Davis?? Our 2nd best performing offensive player at the end of last year?!?
I smell a fix...
Guess I'll go Watson and Campbell then...

For the love of God it's the QB next with his up and coming star wr next. Don't care if ppl think a mlb is better (tough sell bc of positions) but the QB matters. Really if Love goes down for the year we are absolutely screwed. I really cNt say that for any other player. The team would be weaker sure but would still move forward. Love going down ends the season.
QB position here hands down

Yes, QB is the most important position but we really don't know what we have here with Love but we do know with out MLB.

If Campbell goes down does that change our feelings week to week of our chance of winning?? Not for me. Yes we are better with him out there but I think the D still survives.
Can we say the same if Love goes down? I guarantee the betting odds completely change if Love is out.
I do think we have an idea of what he is or can be right away. Nobody's saying all pro out the gate but even average to below average keeps us in games. That's what AR was last year. Below average. We will at the least get that.
This spot is more of the position of QB for me. When I do this awesome exercise that is a big factor for me

There is no criteria; it's fine to vote for proven players over inavailability risk, which really just amounts to voting against the backups than *for* the player.
Chonky Soop man FTW! Last year's slump was just our idiot DC holding the whole D back with stupid scheme and stupid personnel decisions.
Stupid scheme may remain bc Barry sucks arse, but the better personnel should be a big help.

Will be interesting to see who goes first, Walker or Campbell.

After seeing just 83 pass attempts, I'm supposed to believe Love is a better QB than Campbell, a former All-Pro, is a MLB? Norfolk & Way!

I know there is no criteria, but I think it doesn't make any sense to have a Rank the Roster and then vote for most valuable players like Love. Because if we do that then applying that to every team, going into last year you would have had Zach Wilson and Jimmy G atop their respective teams. Sure as hell valuable, but not good by any means.
And I know this type of debate gets brought up every year in the MVP race, but the difference between the actual MVP race and this, even though we're talking about player value vs player skill in both cases, is that in the NFL MVP race, all of the valuable players are also clearly atop the league in terms of ability for a given year. That's not the case here.
So, I think it is not a good idea to put Love this high for the apparent reasons many have. If you think that he is legitimately going to be a top 5 or top 10 QB then it is fine to put him here, but I see no reason why at this stage, we should put him above Devondre or Watson, both of whom are legitimately threats to be top 5 at their position (whereas Love as a top 5 QB is just hope at this point).

thing is this is a Ranking the roster by player exercise, and not a team building one, and that is why many of us are not ready to pencil in a unproven QB this high. ( Iam getting close though)
Campbell and the others have proven just how good they have been and those voting for him think he will be.

I would love to vote for Love because I believe in him. But he doesn’t have enough snaps to really determine at this point.
I am mixed between Campbell, Dillon, and Preston. Campbell just seems to be so solid all the way around. Preston too, especially in containment against the run and adequate pass rush. And Dillon probably doesn’t get enough credit for what he is asked to do.
