Newman!
He played a lot vs the seahawks. I was not watching him though. Nor do I know how well Sean Rhyan played. IMO this situation with only those 2 as backup guards is pretty sad. Really hoping that the Packers trade for a competent backup guard and if he can backup center, even better.

MLF said the team will probably wait until deadline day to make moves--some teams have started immediately. Just an FYI

Jace was another Gutey idea. I guess anyway.

Already a surprise. Rarely do we pay out a roster bonus and then cut a guy.

when ya see established vets playing late in PS games it's usually not a good sign for that vet, it means the coaches are giving him a last chance for the vet to change the GM's mind, obviously O Donnell didn't, Newman is probably next.

also why where we playing Clark till half time, could there be a trade. :idn: I didn't see any reason for him playing.

Trade Clark?!? I know there's a focus on youth right now, but that's crazy talk. Plus he's only 27. It was strange, but I think MLF wanted to stretch out a few guys and get them some reps before the season starts. Clark hadn't played at all yet. A little change in mindset in the new post-12 era.

Doh! I was just saying to my Dad yesterday that I'd be very surprised if they cut O'Donnel in favor of Whelen :thwap:

Did Guty say something about Whelan having more potential upside than ODonnell? He certainly had a good camp, from what little I heard.

I decided to go with Whelan at the last minute as our P in that predict-the-53 thread. He is young with a big leg to crush punts, and I have not heard any reports singling him out for bad FG holds. With the larger youth movement going on, I think you go with him over O'Donnell.

It does make sense. Let this group grow together this year and hopefully you reap the benefits next year. But there are bound to be some bad place kicking processes this year. Prepare yourselves!

Wheelen is younger, cheaper, and the Packers control his rights for longer.

Wheelen didn't need to surpass O'Donnel. He just needed to be close to O'Donnel and he would be the obvious choice

I feel for Pat O'Donnell. I thought with his dad being Neil, we really found something there.

Just wish we hadn't paid him a $650,000 roster bonus in March. Would've saved even more.

This is what happened. O'Donnel is the better punter today.

You jerk. I actually had to Google that to make sure that wasn't real.

Are we sure about this?

I feel like Whelan has been better this pre-season. Where's Pckfn23 on this? He always comes with evidence.
