Guty's 2024 To-do List

The 2023 season for the Pack is now over. At times it was so painful to watch. But in the end, we were in contention for the Super Bowl. What does Guty need to do for the 2024 Packers to improve?

My take:

1. Have a draft class anything close to what you've had the past two years. Just include some Safety talent in it.

2. Spend some FA money to improve our ILB corps and add depth at OLine.

3. Extend Jordan Love! I am not a contracts guy, so I won't go into what that should be and prove my ignorance. We probably don't pay him top tier money. But we pay him a tier down and give him plenty of incentives.

4. Extend Aaron Jones' contract. Keep him a Packer for two years. He will turn 30 this coming year. But it amazingly seems like he is as good as ever.

He needs another strong draft class for sure. Going to be tough to live up to the last two. Main this I think is going to be building the Oline and S room.

I really don’t think he needs to spend in FA if he doesn’t want to. It’s a huge draft capital he has to work with. We could roll over a shot ton into 2025 if we wanted to.

Love is going to get close to being the highest paid player. Not even in question.

I think they need to talk to Jones about taking a cut. Amazing player. Most infectious player on the team. That said he’s a RB that can’t be a bell cow. He isn’t worth his contract.

So let me get this straight. Jones is the "heart of the team" but isn't worth his contract?

Sometimes, players are worth more than the stats they produce. And Jones is one of those guys. Remember, there are never enough of those guys.

By comparison, everybody adored Donald Driver. Donald was a great player. And he produced plenty. But you wouldn't suggest that he was enough of a spark to raise the entire offense to a new level. Aaron Jones is.

Love is going to be the heart of the team. The players respond to him and play for him. If Jones can’t carry the load at RB you can’t make him the 2nd highest cap hit in the league. No way around that.

Love's leadership is growing. You're right about that. Even so, we're gonna keep repeating that our offense isn't the same if Jones isn't getting his snaps. Prove me wrong.
