I get it. I don't like it, but I get it. Jones sacraficed $5M last year for the team. Probably wasn't going to do it again. Sad day, but Jacobs is the new #1, Wilson likely number 2.
RIP JustJeff
I was just about to reply in the Jacobs thread wondering what to make of Jones' contract negotiation.
This sucks. Love me some Aaron Jones. Packer through and through. Best of luck to him.

Well, it's not like we were using him(!), but still....

Ultimately they must think Jacobs can carry the load more than Jones and therefore justifies the contract dollars.
Man this blows.
This news would have gone over a LOT easier if done a year ago. But his play down the stretch in 2023 was just too much fun to watch.

Now cut 3 of the top 6 cap hits for 2024.
I get it. It's a a bit of a gamble, but he isn't getting any younger. I loved the guy as a Packer.

Jacobs likely to make a lot less than we owed Jones. I would be very surprised if Jacobs is anywhere near $12M.

I'm guessing Jacobs will be about $8 million. I thought we could add an extension to Jones and get him closer to that $9 million per year range for the next 3 years.
The only thing I will complain about Aaron Jones is he wasn't a burner.
You get him going in the open field in the playoffs vs the 9ers and he won't make it to the EZ.

My guess is we got younger at RB for similar money with jacobs. Pretty shocked Jones is moving on tho. Great packer but proved time and time again he could not go 60 minutes in the biggest games

we could even resign him, orrrr, we use the second day of the draft on a RB to pair with Jacobs
This is probably cope and/or the bargaining stage of grief but... he could still come back. His current price tag was more than we wanted to pay, but now he has to see what the market says. An RB pushing 30 who missed almost all of last year with injury, I feel like we can negotiate a contract better than what most other teams will offer.
Dallas would make tons of sense but the coach is the guy who refused to use him early in his career. Texans, maybe. KC is the new NE, you go there to play for a ring, and he would make them that much more dangerous. Those are the biggest threats.

I think this as well. Teams are going to be scared of the injury history and age, hard to give a blockbuster deal to an old running back. There's still tread there, but chances are there won't be, at least the electric special sauce he has, for much longer.

Yikes, this one hurts.
