14. Darnell Savage (81%)[+2]
15. Rick Wagner (38%)[FA]
16. Jace Sternberger (44%)[+16]
17. Rashan Gary (47%)[+3]
18. Current

Percent of vote the winner got will be in parenthesis, position change vs. 2019 will be in brackets.

Here's how this works:

Each day there is a new thread/poll, starting at #1, on down to whereever we get. The whole point of this exercise is to have something to talk about in the lean news months to carry us to camp. Each poll will be open for voting for 24 hours. New threads will only be created on weekdays. Ties will cause a runoff poll.

Simply voting is not enough!

Post why you voted for who you did and provide a player to add to the next poll (every poll will be a list of 10 guys, a new player is added to the list each day).

Here's the thing. There is no criteria. This is an exercise to foster discussion therefore there are no clear criteria for ranking. Who is better right now? Who will have the best season? Who was better last year? Sort of a combo of them all? Do you take positional value into account? It really doesn't matter.

Am I the only one that thinks that AJ "The Sauce" Dillon is going to have a large role right off the bat? Okay, I will fly with that. AJD has 120 touches year 1, is our goal line hammer, and scores 9 TD's paving his way to RB1 in 2021.

I am not buzzed, yet. I promise.

You are not. I can completely get behind AJ Dillon soon. I think though his impact will come later in the season when it gets colder...but absolutely he could be a true force and weapon for us by November through the Super Bowl.

Lazard again for me. He has the leg up on the #2 WR slot and has the tools to keep it and excel.

Agreed for 18. Lazard should be voted here. He is our 1st down clutch killer. H was my vote.

Exact same four for me and probably Lazard and Williams after that.

I love AJ Dillon as a back for us, but I don't know how big of a role he'll play unless/until he proves himself as a pass protector.

That said, 100ish carries and a goalline back isn't a huge role and seems plenty realistic. I definitely think he's going to cut into Williams' playing time, which is why I'm certain our backup RB fighting a high draft pick to maintain his role will be voted onto the board long before i even consider him.

I'm going Lazard here. He is no lock, but is odds-on favorite for a starting WR job and that's more important than a almost-certainty at starting RG.

#2 WR or #2 ILB or #2 DL.

#2 DL (Lowry) = Safest regular snaps
#2 ILB (Burks) = Most likely starter (tho they have played 1 ILB a ton)
#2 WR (Lazard) = Most likely to make a large impact

I'm leaning big Dean here, he's the one I see as most likely remaining to get significant snaps. He started all 16 games in 2019. Keke is really the only threat to his snaps IMHO

Last year the #2 ILB (Goodson) had 254 snaps
Last year Lazard had 479 snaps
Last year Lowry had 637 snaps

If people want to vote for someone not on the list, let me know. I'll probably add the next batch when we get down to 15 or so.

I think Lazard should be annualized a little if we are projecting since Lazard was in the fold only for 10.25 games.

If AJD gets rumbling early on in non-stacked boxes, do you think coach is going to want to stop that? I can see him having an early down role for sure, and getting more opportunities than people think, especially with Jones' contract situation. Getting rolling early is key for him though, I just really like him a lot. He will surely have more touches on the ball than Lazard, even if the Lizard King is a "starting WR". Both are close IMO. Will be interesting to see.

Why would we play Dillon over Jones? I don't see us taking the ball out of Jones' hand in favor of a rookie.

Yes. He is FAR inferior to Jones, and I think he is inferior to AJD as well.

Sorry, not following, we didn't really play Jamaal Williams over Jones last season. Williams spelled Jones and took 3rd down reps because he is the better pass blocker, but Jones also played a good number of 3rd downs. This is mildly interesting: http://pfref.com/tiny/SLWFj

I agree that Jones is the far superior back, thus I think he plays as much or more than last year. I can't say Dillon is the superior player to Williams though. I could see Dillon take over some of Williams' snaps if he is a decent pass blocker. If not I think he will be relegated to shortage (maybe) and maybe some interesting sub-packages (if everyone is healthy).

You think that he just SPELLED Jones? I don't think so. He got just about half of the carries that Jones did, and he missed two games (236- Jones, 107 Williams). There were times that Jones was off the field that I was wondering why, and JW was getting touches, maybe that is just me.

I have just never been a Williams guy, I think he is very average, if not just below average. I think AJD has the chance to be very above average. But again, I know I am in the minority in thinking AJD is a better overall player than most think he is.

I think there were some times when it was perplexing why Jones was on the bench especially early in the season, but after the first Detroit game Jones always took more snaps. I think Jamaal Williams is average as a runner. I think he is a good at pass blocking and a decent pass catcher. I just think it is going to be tough for Dillon to break into that lineup this season. He most likely will not be a better pass blocker than Williams or runner than Jones.

there were times where i wondered where A Jones was. Thought he may even have gotten dinged up, he was out for so long. But Jones also didnt finish the previous season out and i think there were durability concerns. I also think they just really wanted him fresh for the playoffs and the stretch run. By drafting Dillon, it appears there still may be durability concerns. I think Jones has clearly continuously beefed up during his time in the league and those potential problems concern me less now that they used to.

I will say one thing I did not like is when Jones and JW rotated by entire series. When it was JWs series, you just wouldnt see Jones at all..and vice versa. I like the idea of giving jones two carries, bringing in JW for a pass block situation, then give him a couple carries, then bring back Jones for a few plays. Basically rotating backs within a drive to not let the D settle in on one back, while giving the RBs mini breaks to stay fresh, but also keeping them warm as opposed to starting a drive cold after sitting for half a quarter.

As for the topic at hand, i voted Williams here.
