I may be a crotchety old man but if I'm Jordan Love and I want to lead this team to the Super Bowl do I really care if their offer is less than my agent's as long as it is close? Let's say it's $50m/year vs $55m/year. Big freaking deal,10 years ago he would have given his left nut to ever get paid $50m/year. It's just unfathomable to not practice over this kind of money.
If they weren't close then I would assume they would have brought in another QB.

It will get done soon. 5 million is a lot of money for everyone. Also incentives and bonuses I am sure are being discussed. I am okay with it being a few days holding out. I would feel differently if he was not on the sidelines and in meetings

And that is $5M/year... so yeah, it adds up to an awful lot.

Nothing wrong with Love here holding out. You dont want to be Teddy Bridgewater and take a snap and have your knee go to shambles in practice without being paid.
This is fully on Gutenbumst and Ball failing to get a contract done by the start of camp.

This is such a ridiculous comment. It takes both sides- do you favor GB just giving him everything he wants?

Very disappointed in Love. He isn't showing leadership by "holding in."

The team has had since Jan 2024 to come to terms with a new deal. Jacksonville had no problem hammering out a deal. Detroit had no problem hammering out a deal. The next guy up for a contract always gets paid the most. Lawrence was up next and tied Burrow in APY.
Yes. Love should get everything he wants. Ridiculous to think he shouldnt at the QB position.

I suppose not. Just protecting a $300M potential payday for him and his family. What. Is. He. Thinking?

It is disappointing that Love isn't practicing. It needs to get done very soon.
But I fortunately or unfortunately am involved with a lot of negotiations. These things take time. It's frustrating how long they can take and quite frankly it's not either party's fault. The big negotiations especially take the most time because you can't get it wrong so both sides filter through more with a fine tooth comb.
I'm not happy about it. I get it. But I'm not happy. It needs to get done ASAP.

surprised the team is playing hard ball actually, they had to know that he wouldn't risk injury prior to a deal inked up.
I was hoping he wouldn't do this, but his agent has to protect Loves future earning ability or he isn't doing his job.

Love the hot takes when people don't really know what's going on.
Let's just call it this. They should have had it done by now. That's a mistake by both sides. Let's also be real, both sides are not going to allow this to go on much longer.

The first few days are essentially a walk through. Maybe Love should just quit football and play competitive chess instead if he can't lead a football team through walkthroughs.

I'm behind Love and his agent 100% on this.
Why Gutesheekootsheekoo and his staff couldn't get their doo doo together before today is mind boggling. Reminds me of the crap Sterling Sharpe had to endure with the inept Packers GM staff back in the day. I still have a Gutey autograph available for sale.

I'm kinda with Lupe here.
I am generally against players holding out, but this new era of "hold ins" are sort of a compromise thing. Love shouldn't take snaps before securing his future, and the start of camp was a very well-known deadline and the negotiators failed to get it done. I'm not fully on "it's on the team," but it's on the negotiators on both sides, with more on the team because they know the deadline and they had to know it would be used as leverage, so this should be accounted for.
