The Green Bay Packers return home to take on the Detroit Lions for their third game at Lambeau Field in four weeks.

Including a 1994 playoff victory, the Packers are 28-5 against the Lions in the state of Wisconsin since 1992.
The Packers have 61 wins at home against Detroit, tied for the most home wins by one NFL team against another all-time (Chicago also has 61 wins versus the Lions).
This is the first time since Dec. 8, 1996 (10-3 Green Bay vs. 12-1 Denver), where both teams enter a game at Lambeau Field in Week 9 or later with a .750-plus winning percentage, per the Elias Sports Bureau.
The Packers have won three of the last five home games against the Lions.
Last season, each team won in the other's stadium.
The Packers lead the all-time regular-season series, 104-76-7 (.577), and have won both postseason contests the two clubs have played.
Green Bay's 104 regular-season wins over the Lions are the second most it has against any team (106 vs. Chicago).
The Lions and Packers share one of the league's streakiest series. One team has swept the season series in six of the last eight years. The clubs have split their meetings twice in that span (2021 and 2024).
The Packers swept the season series 11 times in the last 20 years.
Green Bay scored 42 points in the meeting at Lambeau in 2020, the most it had scored at home against the Lions since posting 45 in 2011. The Packers followed it up by scoring 35 in an 18-point victory at home in 2021.
Three of the last four contests between the teams at Lambeau Field have been decided by 14-plus points.
Dating back to 2019, Green Bay is 6-4 overall against the Lions.
It is the second straight season and the fourth time in the past five years that the first meeting between the two teams will take place in Green Bay.
This is the first of five NFC North games the Packers will play in their final nine contests. It is the first time since 2015 that five of the final nine games will be against the division.
Green Bay will be on the bye next week. It comes in Week 10 for the first time since 2012 and marks the fourth time in six seasons under Head Coach Matt LaFleur that the Packers' bye has been Week 10 or later.

THE PACKERS-LIONS SERIES

This is the 93rd consecutive season these two franchises have met, playing each other at least twice every season since 1932.
Green Bay's 104 regular-season wins over Detroit are the team's second-most wins over a single opponent, behind only the Packers' 106 wins over Chicago.
The Packers won 29 of the first 38 matchups in the series (1930-49) before the Lions reeled off 11 straight wins over a six-year span (1949-54).

I have positive vibes going into this game. Its a big game obviously. IF the Packers win and look good they become arguably the favorites in the NFC at the halfway point of the season. The Pack haven't even played their best football yet. Let hope they start peaking in 8-10 weeks. I wish Love was healthy but I don't think it's a given we lose with Willis. I think the defense is going to get after Goff pretty good. :aok:

Interestingly Lions are tied for 9th worst rush defense by yards/carry.

Lions are a top 5 blitzing team. Packers are a bottom 5 blitzing team. By blitz percentage. Packers have an 11% hurry percentage, Lions a 10.6%, 6th and 7th in the league respectively. Pressure percentage is 26.7% for the Lions, 25% for the packers, 11th and 13th respectively.

We have the 2nd most missed tackles in the league.

Our offense needs to roll. Run to set up the pass unless they stack the box.

This was the game I had circled as our must win in 2024.

Incredibly disappointed how last week turned out with injuries as we are going into the game with a lot of studs either banged up or not playing at all.

???

Still the greatest show in the world to get to watch a game at Lambeau, hot, wet or cold. One of the few good remaining parts of life.

Yup. That is why our D has it's work cut out for it. AND why TOP will be important. We need to run well, not just for the basis of the offense, but to also keep the Lions' O off the field.

Can't afford to leave points on the field either. We don't need a perfect game. But I do think we need to bloody the noses of our opponents here, on both sides.

Rest up for when Lupe and Ringo are in town for the 49ers game. Need a game plan for post-game joined by the venerable Bogey. Thoughts? This is for BF004 as well + anyone who will be there too.

Quit making excuses GPG. These are the games when the unsung heroes become heroes. Got a feelin' the 3 young guys on defense will make it all happen. And Willis shocks the NFL with an amazing array of QB rushes and downfield completions. All Day Long! And into the early evening.

From Warren Sharp:

https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/f ... bar-2024/

Detroit has scored a touchdown on a league-high 35.0% of their possessions. The league average is 21.8%.
After converting 55.6% (10-of-18) of their red zone drives for touchdowns in September (16th), the Lions converted a league-high 81.8%
(9-of-11) in October.

The Lions have a league-high 52.1% success rate on passing plays.

The Lions have a 46.8% success rate on rushing plays, third in the league.

Detroit has allowed a touchdown on 16.5% of opponent possessions, 5th in the league.

38.5% of the Detroit set of downs reach third down, second in the NFL behind the Ravens (35.1%).

Green Bay is 8th in the league with 41.6% of their sets of downs reaching third down. The league average is 45.8%.**

The Lions have scored a league-high 9 offensive touchdowns from outside of the red zone.

The Packers have scored 8, tied for second in the league.

.
** The ratio of 1st downs to 3rd downs is a really good indicator of offensive efficiency.
When you Offense is totally hummin, they don't need no stinkin 3rd downs
.

I don't think Willis will start. Hopefully he does not play a single snap, except maybe a kneels down to run out the clock to end the game.
