So Bill goes to college football. The news is he got disgusted with NFL Football and wanted to leave. But what specifically didn‘t he like with modern NFL? Is this known?

I haven't read anything of him being "disgusted" or done with the NFL but rather the opposite: the NFL being done with him.

His old school approach is no longer coveted nor desired in the eyes of many owners and GMs. His age, demeanor, approach, and demand for absolute control are all ill suited relative to the current coaching trend that has taken hold. The McVay, LaFleur, Shanahan, McDaniel, Campbell models are what every organization is now chasing.

Like it or not, Bill is a presence that demands respect as soon as he walks in the building. Not just from the players, but upward from the GM and so on. You challenge Bill and you risk your position within the organization.

You think whoever just took over for the Jets organization want anything to do with that? I doubt it. They want to establish their own legacy, not watch Bill expand upon his at their expense.

I was convinced he was destined for Dallas with McCarthy probably not coming back.

Its easier to cheat in college, the NFL is wise to his favorite transgressions - so he's moving on to a junior league to ply his trade.
He's a pretty adaptable guy and a student of the game- I think he will thrive (for awhile).

The other part of this that I haven't seen discussed is that colleges are now looking into "selling" their teams to investors/private equity.
Marc Lasry of Bucks ownership fame was talking about this recently and noted that he and his crew are in on talks to "purchase" several different college football programs.

The idea behind it is that the new owners get to dip their beaks into the exploding TV revenue, while the University now has funds to support the non-football sports, fund NIL and other areas.

The investors make money owning the college team (multi-millions in revenue), the college gets access to $$$- not unlike a Home Equity loan. I don't know all the particulars, but the value of UNC football would go up immensely with BB running the program and I'm sure he would share in some of that largesse. College sports are following the NFL in allowing investors to buy a piece of the fast-growing pie and having BB as the titular head of your investment would be very attractive.

I think it has to do wit having full control as well. He likes being GM and coach and his ability to draft players in well documented as being pretty bad.

As for college ball I'm not sure he will like that much more either. Its basically become an NIL fest and has really ruined a lot of the game IMO.
