I'm just 100% in on Maxx Crosby. The fact that he is only 27 is icing on the cake.

Ooh, I like Paulsen Adebo as a potential CB target.

The idea of TWO of those CBs is appealing. Maybe we can find a draftee early that is mature enough to start. But how likely is that? And while there'll be some turnover, it's nice to add at least one vet to that group.

People are going to be SO mad, but I really think Josh Myers is going to get a new contract here. As long as it is middle-of-the-pack Center money, I am good with it. He is never going to be an All-Pro, but I thought he was starting to play some decent football in 2024.

I accidentally clicked "report" instead of comment. At first it was a mistake but then I thought....no. this does deserve to be reported.

Yes I will be mad. Unless it is a prove it stop gap contract. Josh Meyers is a bad center. It was a swing and a miss.

I am fundamentally opposed to mid-tier contracts for mid veterans who don't bring a personality/leadership/attitude dynamic to the team. You sign your studs. Protect and promote team chemistry with small/middle money contracts. And fill out the roster's role players with rookie contracts.

Got lucky on the injury front with nothing significant. I truly thought he broke his leg. Price definitely has to be right to sign him.

Not saying anything about Myers talent on the field. Might want to see LaFleurs latest comment on leadership.

I forget who it was, I think Mike Wahle, who said that eventually, teams find a way to live without guys. We let him and Rivera walk, and it was rough for a couple years... but in time, we had Lang and Sitton manning those spots for us.

We will not have any real trouble replacing Myers, IMO. There are literally four guys on the roster right now who are C candidates.

I think folks over value Tom at RT, yes he's been very good out there, but we'll need a position for Morgan next year, and WAlker may not be a bull run blocker, it's good enough, and he's been good at pass pro, that could make Myers expendable.

Part of my thinking is keeping that versatility. Plus, if they can do a mid-tier contract, I think that will end up being more prudent than re-signing Rasheed. I think his contract will be top of the market and I do not think he is worth that... but some team will. Tom is the top-of-the-market priority. Although, like @Yoop, I do think he is slightly overrated at RT and still wouldn't hate moving him around.

Personally I think Tom is underrated at RT and should be our LT when Walker's contract expires, but it's a tough case to make after that Philly game. But that's a longer-term question.

In the mean time, for this thread, I don't think I want much if any free agent activity on the OL. Keep drafting.

Honestly aside from the possibility of Davante, I don't think the offense needs free agents. The defense could certainly use an edge to make up for LVN disappointing and obvi we've talked about the corners. But edge is a particularly expensive venture.

I'm with you, but his current deal would take up all of our cap space. Obviously there's more room to be made, but it would make it more difficult to sign anyone else. An extension would likely be on the table for him as well, that would save some space too.

I have a feeling it'll be a bit too rich for us and we go another direction. But I'd be a fan if we made it happen!

Moving on from Myers is the right move. 4 years to make it work, and really hasn’t. Fine on a rookie contract, but he is who he is and isn’t worth a fair market contract.

Plus letting him walk forces us to address the position for possible upgrades, FA, draft, internal, either youth or position change.

Just paying $10 million a year or whatever to ensure mediocrity doesn’t make sense to me.

You can always replace average. It may be on the roster, but we can do better.

I don't get what Ken Ingalls is talking about for cap.

We currently have $63 Million in cap (if the actual 2025 agrees with Spotrac's projections) and 39 players to the roster. Back out $23 Million and that still leaves us with $40 million to sign 11 players. I think we can easily fit Crosby in this year. (depending on what the 2025 cap is set at).

It does seem like a stretch, but when he says "effective" cap space, it typically means filling out the roster up to 53 players with rookie draft cap allocations and minimum salary placeholders; then leaving enough for a PS and to have cushion going into the year to handle IR and stop-gap signings.

That shouldn't add up to $40M, but that's where all that money goes when Ingalls says "effective"
