ESPN Analyst Mel Kiper doesn't have the Packers taking a wide receiver, cornerback, or offensive lineman in the first round. Instead, a possible replacement for the last defensive first round pick that has not panned out quite yet.

My mock that had ken grant in the 1st and this mike green in the 2nd?? haha.

I really like green but this might be to early for me. He will blow up the combine though.

I think we should go after another receiver. Jordan needs more reliable options.

I think with what Jaire said in the way out plus the prior years incident there’s no way you can keep him on the team. You can’t have that in a locker room full of young players to see. That in conjunction with the lack of availability just adds up to moving on whether that’s a trade or for nothing.

No way Stokes is back unless it’s as a janitor.

Nixon will be 28 at the start of this season.

Valentine has 2 years of control on his contract still and is a fine player.

Without a doubt in my mind this pick will be a CB.

I have DB much higher on the list than WR. We need 2 at least that can play today.

Both Nixon and Sullivan improved late season, imo the lack of pass rush is what hurt our secondary more than lack of ability from those two, also the injury to Evan Williams and lack of coverage ability from Bullard didn't help them either.
is bringing in a new DL coach going to fix that? who knows, but I'am still leaning pass rusher a high priority.

as to Stokes, when a CB isn't targeted, when QB's don't throw in his direction, it says that CB has tight coverage, so stokes not getting playing time could suggest a injury not bad enough to report, but enough to stop him from playing, just spiffing.

we tend to do well in round two drafting receivers, and a speed demon should be available even later, personally I'd find a way to trade for a established vet, use Jaire and LVN to buy one

JMO,at slot 23 it's near impossible not to have about 5 or 6 players fit that BPA scenario, it's not the same as the top 8 or so first tier group, or after about to 30 or so, and team have to prioritize weaker positions

I get that we groom 1st rounders at some positions simply because those positions are tougher transitions, but there still positions of need

It's an age-old argument. I was making a joke about it. Gutekunst has specifically discussed this as plainly as one can, especially in Round 1. The Packers take account of position of need when stacking the board. Their BPA isn't for an expansion team with no one on the roster, it is for the Green Bay Packers. Need definitely plays a big part.

I suppose I should have caught that with the hide behind the couch emo, but I'am terrible at reading between the lines of internet sarcasm, and didn't realize Guty made those comments, and sense that has always been such a misunderstood reality for most football fans and another of my pet peves I reacted as soon as I saw BPA, sorry

but do they actually reach? again Pugger unless we are drafting top 10, and even then, chances are there are more than just one BPA candidate, the grades are that close. for instance when we took Raji at the 9th slot, many said WR Crabtree was the BPA, two completely different positions,we were installing a new defensive scheme and needed DL players, so while the grades were close, our needs made the choice easier to make, and Raji was a stud till his rotator cuff injury, and CRabtree never became more than just a good receiver

B.J. Raji was the ninth overall pick in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers. Clay Matthews III was also a first-round pick in 2009. Both Raji and Matthews were named to the All-Rookie Team in 2009, Crabtree didn't even receive an honorable mention

What the media draftniks say is BPA and what any given team's BPA is, is not the same. The reach or steal designation is based on those outside the NFL looking in.
