I'll be disappointed if just we let him walk with nothing in return. If we find no serious buyers then he'll be back.

I think our bluff gets called and we release him. Unless they can get a deal worked out immediately, I think the Packers will not delay the inevitable. I do not see this dragging out until The Draft.

I went with released. The fact we're here shows me it wasn't just misunderstandings last year, this relationship is over.

So being a Packer isn't an option in my mind. I'd prefer a trade obviously, but I can't see anything better than a 5th really. Maybe if he's part of a player and picks trade for one of the high profile guys they're talking about in the media? But I just don't see teams lining up for his contract or his services. He didn't have a bad deal here in GB at all and couldn't or wouldn't get back on the field, place a pretty decent price tag on that attitude and an injury history? eesh, whatever Gute can squeeze out of that in a trade is probably worth it at this point.

Not liking that it's now leaked we are looking to trade.

Usually once that gets out teams get less inspired to give up assets.

Frankly kind of always figured a divorce with Jaire would happen when we drafted him. Just always seemed to be the type who is great when things are going well and not great when things aren't going well.

Teams already knew we were trading him. I never expected to get more than a 5th considering the contract, age, size, and injury history. If I was another team I would be all over trading a late round pick for him but thats not how the league operates. They will think the day 3 pick could be anything. It could even be a talent like Jaire Alexander.

There should be no rush to trade him or release him unless it’s an offer that can’t be refused (which won’t happen because his value is low right now). If the season starts off well, he will be on an emotional high and it will be fine. If the team sucks at season start then you move him to someone desperate for a CB at the trade deadline when his value will be highest. If he plays out his contract he will still be 28 and someone will sign him netting us a 3rd round comp.

anyone who takes him will redo his contract or they wont take him, if no takers he'll be cut, I'd think Guty is trying to work out a package deal to get a WR, CB, or pass rusher, I would be,

   hopefully he does well and we get a 3rd round comp pick, plus what we get in a trade, I agree with his angst against some of his coaches the past few years, but using the media to voice his complaints, not so much, add in all his injuries, and he just seems like a cancer now, adios Jaire, your services are no longer wanted.

who do the Jags have that we want????

That's not how that works. Comp picks are for UFA's. Trades are trades.

right, what was I thinking :hide:

I just don't see Guty finding a trade partner for Jarie, always dinged up, doesn't want to play hurt, isn't our dead cap hit less after june 1st? if so that's when I expect that we cut him, maybe a comp pick is our best value. :idn:

Campanile was here one year, this past season, when he got a glimpse of the bad side of having Jaire on your team.

Not a guy I'd want on a team in need of a culture change.

He makes more sense for an org that already has a strong enough locker room to absorb his personality, and probably also is a playoff team. A team like SEA, WAS, frankly our two main divisional rivals, maybe LA could make sense.

Nothing more than a gut feeling. He will be released.

I would think the Jags would be one of the teams that wouldn’t want him. Word from the beat writers is Alexander tried to play on the injury and didn’t have a good game, was panned by media and fans and decided to shut himself down when the medical staff said he was good enough to play for the season and get surgery after. He took the surgery during the season against the wishes of the coaches and advice of the medical staff. All word of mouth though.

I doubt any coach associated with the Packers would want him after last year.

Voting on pure hope he’s a Packer this season. He’s a quality albeit quirky player who has had some tough injury luck of late and lost faith in the Packer training staff. Hopefully they can find some common ground and reconcile.

If the Packers just outright release him simply to be rid of him, I’m joining @lupedafiasco’s Gutehate fan club and running for Club President.

Frankly, I could see Jaire going to Baltimore and thriving.
