Favorite sleepers later round prospects

We always look at the early guys but here are some of my favorite "sleepers".

Feel free to add names to the list

Kyle Kennard. South Carolina edge

Why is nobody talking about this guy. All American. Won the Nagurski award. He's a little older but was a menace in the SEC last year. Dominant against Bama. I really like that he is always working upfield and doesn't let guys get into his body (opposite of Stewart).

Jeff Bassa. LB Oregon

Former safety moved to off ball backer. Field general with high football IQ. Some talking heads stated he has some Bobby Wagner type game. I would like him to break down some on tackles bc he comes in high a lot but he has tons of range. Good angles to the outside and knifes in nice in-between the tackles.

Jacob Parrish. K state cb

Really like this dude. Reminds me of a young Ja. Good cover skills and attacks. Scrappy

Luke Kandra. OG cinn

Had him in a mock before the combine. Then he jumped out the gym in Indy. GB type 4th special. Team leader that plays through the whistle.

Kennard worries me because he’s 23 so was he just coming into his grown man strength and playing well or what. Also split time at edge so he never developed as a full time LB.

Any S to Lb concert worries me. LB is such an instinctual position. It’s a rare position where you can be a great player and not a great athlete here if you just have great game sense. I do really like Bassas game but I have seen enough of the S conversion players that it give me pause that they will get killed in the run game.

Yea these guys will come with some warts but that's why they are later picks. I'm not so worried about Kennard being older and getting stronger at 23, that's not crazy to still add strength in his 20s. I do agree he is the more of a one trick pony but as a situational pass rusher that's fine

I agree on the LB hybrid experimenting the league went to for awhile to keep up with the offenses. These guys didn't pan out a ton, or at least we're passing down only players. Bassa does have a decent frame though to play lber... Esp in the even front. A guy like Nick Martin would scare me way more. Dude is a super athlete but tiny. He would just get washed out on d. But Martin could be a teams stud as a UDFA

draft buzz says 3rd round, would be a great pick if he dropped to us there, but IMHO he'll be gone well before that, natural bender, chop and rip move, he may be lighter than Guties normal edge picks, but I look at that as a good thing, tired of watching the tight hipped LVN get stoned out right at the LOS because all he has is a bull rush, it was the same with Gary for 3 years.

also tired of this idea that we need these over size DE's to be edge pass rushers because they have to stop the run, we switched to a 4-3, let the lbers stop the run, we devoted so much to stopping the run we became one of the worst pass rushing defenses in the league last season. :thwap: :aok:
