Roster News

I feel like roster news can be a separate thread from general Packer news, but feel free to delete if this is duplicative.
So here's what we've got so far as camp gets started:
Released: DT Gerald Willis, OL Cole Madison and FB Jordan Jones (discussed
here)
COVID list: TE Jace Sternberger, K Mason Crosby, DL Treyvon Hester (discussed
here)
COVID Opt-Out: WR Devin Funchess (discussed
here)
Claimed: FB/H-back John Lovett from the Chiefs
PUP: OT Yosh Njimen and iLB Curtis Bolton
NFI: OG Simon Stepaniak and RB Patrick Taylor
The NFI (non-football injury) list can include injuries suffered in college football as well as outside of football--just means an injury that was not suffered with the team for football activities. Both would be eligible for the regular season PUP as they didn't pass their physical to open camp.

Interesting that this extends to next season, as well. Also, 4-player protection does NOT extend to the Bye Week, so that will be a cross-your-fingers type of situation.

Missed it a few days ago, but Packers released 2 more.
Packers release QB Jalen Morton and FB Elijah Wellman

Packers released DL/LB Jamal Davis, likely as the corresponding roster move to signing that WR Fulgham who has
his own thread

Packers have added that Malik Turner guy, as well; no word yet on any corresponding roster moves.

S/LB Frankie Griffin was released to make room for the Malik Turner signing. I think he was one of the better-paid UDFA we grabbed, but I think they were trying to transition him fully to LB and he was only 200 pounds, so I don't mind giving up on that project.

Packers cut Darrell Stewart, WR; Marc-Antoine Dequoy, DB; and James Looney, TE
Two undrafted free agents and our project DL->TE conversion
This likely means they're expecting to activate a player or two from PUP/NFI/Covid lists in the coming days.

My gosh that draft class is getting cut like onions on a mandolin.

Sternberger and Hester activated from the COVID list
Sounds like Roberts and Bradley are close (both were on the field but not practicing meaning they've passed their tests and are in the conditioning phase before returning).
That said, I'd expect to hear 2 more cuts announced today or tomorrow to make room for them.

The Packers got back in the business of holding workouts and among them today was OL Reginald 'Kahlil' McKenzie Jr. -- the son of former Raiders GM/former Packers' scout Reggie McKenzie. Known as Kahlil, he started his high school career at Green Bay Southwest High school. He was originally a sixth-round pick of the Chiefs in 2018. Other Packers workouts: LB Joey Alfieri (Stanford), LB Drew Lewis (Colorado), LB D'Juan Hines (Houston), NT Javier Edwards (Colorado), DT Walter Palmore (Missouri).
An OLineman with ties to the organization, 3 off-ball LBs and 2 DTs in for workouts.

This guy has to be running out of chances.

That's actually genuinely funny at this point.
Tim WIlliams and Jonathan Garvin may make this irrelevant if they keep it up
