Packers Huddle

After watching the game today, and the Bucs-Saints game so far, I have to wonder if the lack of Crowd noise is taking away the HFA. (And no, I'm not making this as an excuse for the Vikings losing.) But I have to think the lack of 100+ decibels in any stadium makes it easier on the away team to change plays at the LOS.

Absolutely agree with this.

Clearly. And Rodgers in Minneapolis is all the evidence you need. QBs can have their way at home or on the road this year. Expect offensive records to fall.

There is also no question teams like the Saints, Vikings, Seahawks have better defensive play than maybe their rosters would present because of the energy from the crowd noise but also the ability to jump the silent count.

I would be curious to see the defensive performance stats such as sacks, pressures, forced fumbles of all the Vikings greats when playing at home vs on the road. I bet it is incredibly lop-sided.

Shoot. Look at today with the ability of Rodgers getting to use his cadence. He destroyed MN with the offsides and neutral zone infraction penalties. That ain't happening with a crowd.

I also would have been waaaaaay more nervous this game would have escaped from the Packers grasp in the 4th quarter if that crowd got into it.

I also think this is the new reality though. I would be shocked if the NFL allows full capacity in 2021.

It's one of the reasons I'm down on the Vikings; this stadium has given them a huge homefield advantage and this season is mitigating that.

It's honestly why I am so passionate and angry that Packers fans can't get into it and we can't be like an Arrowhead Stadium. Defenses feed off crowd noise. We never really had it during my time as a fan. I heard Lambeau was loud in the 90s. It has never really been that during my time. Last year was pretty good.

But there is no question in my mind MN would be spotted 2 or 3 games simply because of their crowd and their environment.

Yup. 2003 - 2007 the Packers only lost once in the dome in that stretch (and that was our terrible 2005 season).

We then were dominant again there 2010 - 2016 where we only lost in 2012.

Now we are 2-3 at US Bank Stadium.

The NFL gambling guy whose last name is actually sharp said on The Ringer podcast that the Vikings' HFA vs. the spread, at least, is the best in the league since US Bank opened, statistically.

Another point is that the Refs are less likely to be swayed to throw a flag or keep it in pocket, as they often are by the crowd. We are basically seeing games on neutral fields.

Buck just said on the Fox broadcast that New Orleans thinks it will be in position to allow fans to their next home game... week 3 against us.

That's fine. They won't be anywhere near capacity.

Yes, it plays a huge role and this year will expose that. Having been to 18 NFL stadiums, I cannot imagine having to play or execute plays in some of the noise that you hear. It plays a big part.

Lack of noise at the Rams new stadium didn't prevent McCarthy from passing on a tying FG attempt from a short distance to blow it again. I told a Cowyboy fan a few weeks ago that I ran into at a Walmart that the Boys were dead in the water now that they have our previous coach.
