Don’t have any expectations other than I doubt he could contribute less than Shepherd or Taylor.

I think this is brilliant. If nothing than insurance for the Ervin role it's smart, but I think Austin can be even more dynamic. The trick is to use him correctly and I think what we know about LaFleur, we are poised to do exactly that.

Returns and we can get creative with him on offense. No risk, love it.

I mean this ultimately hopefully means that teams can't completely allow us to screw up kick returns.

That's pretty much all I am hoping for now but honestly at the cost this will have on our cap, it is okay.

Shepherd needs to go. Austin is a fine replacement. Anything more than that is gravy.

Mostly reserve on offense, ST may start right away or work in down the line. Absolutely zero downside here. Rison upside ;)

Also, I know I'm not usually "that guy" but even with this, I still wouldn't mind giving Shepherd's roster spot to Kenny Stills to fill out a chart.

Very sensible signing, should give us some competent return skills and can fill that Ervin role in our offense.

Hell yea kick the tires. Explosive guy that pushes shep out. It tells the team we are always looking if you can step up. No risk all return. I love it. I trust him on teams and its jet swipe like with swerv Awsome play

Great move by Gutey. Granted its weeks late but still credit where credit is do for not sitting on your hands and acting like you dont have a problem that needs addressing. Every team in the league kicked short to force Sheppard to return and he just cant get past the 25. I dont know what we expected to be different.

This brings a dynamic returner and at the very least forces teams to respect the return game.

Im sure shepherd is a great kid but hopefully this move will him either pursuing the career he went to college for, continuing to chase his dreams in Canada, or playing for the bears.

I agree with the general sentiment. Time to move on from Shepard. I am sort of surprised Tavon Austin hasn't been better in his career since he had somewhat of a unique skillset coming out of WV

I never want to see MVS or EQ get a jet sweep again.

If Austin still has that top speed too, be kind of interesting running double verts with like MVS on the sideline and Austin in the slot running more like a psuedo post, that would be too much speed for any safety to cover and would put a ton of strain on a cover 2 as well.

MVS has 6 career carries (2 per year) and an 8.5 yards/carry average (with no gains longer than 21 to skew the average).
EQSB has 2 career carries for 5 and 7 yards.

So 1) there is no issue about them getting too many jet sweeps, and 2) they are not that bad at it.

Even Lazard only has 3 carries for 21, 19, and -2

It's not like Geronimo Allison is out there running them (he did get one last year, though, haha)
