Now release Preston, sign Watt, and rework Rodgers.
And so it begins...
Both were essentially on prove-it deals and they didn't do enough to stay on the roster. Wagner wasn't as bad as I feared (not great either), but Kirksey seemed lost early and his injury bug was as bad as advertised.
They weren't absolute catastrophes, and didn't ruin the cap long term, so they'll count as Gutey busts, but not of the worst kind.

They're dumping the right ones first.

Not surprised about Kirksey. He played better down the stretch but you have 2 young guys in Barnes and Martin that are probably the future and show more upside at a cheaper price.
Wagner surprises me with the Bak injury. Now I feel like OT is definitely going to be picked early in the draft. Might even be the #1 need now on the roster.

Never room for a backup RTO on a 2nd contract.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑19 Feb 2021 17:01Not surprised about Kirksey. He played better down the stretch but you have 2 young guys in Barnes and Martin that are probably the future and show more upside at a cheaper price.

Not at that price. But could still see him back on a lighter deal.BF004 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2021 17:15Never room for a backup RTO on a 2nd contract.lupedafiasco wrote: ↑19 Feb 2021 17:01Not surprised about Kirksey. This is a sign. The Packers are going after Watt.
Love is the answer…

They’re over the cap. It’s a sign they’re trying to get under the cap.

I might be in the minority that hopes we can keep Preston. As long as we don't ask him to cover TEs he's been productive.Ghost_Lombardi wrote: ↑19 Feb 2021 15:41Cap savings in 10.25 million

Doubt we are looking at a situation where dropping Preston guarantees Wattgo pak go wrote: ↑19 Feb 2021 18:27No. I want JJPugger wrote: ↑19 Feb 2021 18:25I might be in the minority that hopes we can keep Preston. If they dropped Preston right now they still wouldn’t be under the cap.
It is funny though. When we made the FA signings a few years ago I did say you probably want out of a few of these deals in 2 years because they were some bad contracts later on. I did also say I thought Preston was the better value. Clearly wrong there.

I mean that’s well known. There isn’t any possible scenario where that happens.
