Wow!
Bye bye Preston Smith...
This number puts 13 teams over the top 51 cap.
Packers need to shed just over 12 million just to get under that number.

I'm seeing a number of $9,679,306 for the Packers. Regardless, cya Preston.
Saints still $53M over

I'd keep Preston for a $4M salary reduction if he would accept. Just. Restructure. Aaron.

NFL sets 2021 salary cap at $182.5 million

Welp, I was wrong, really thought it was going to get bumped up.

I was surprised you stayed on the boat as long as you did. Word on the street is there is still at least $30M in lost revenue to deal with. We may not have a big cap hike until 2024.

Huh. I guess all that doom and gloom talk by me a few weeks ago saying how strapped we will be on the cap was actually correct.
Last fall I thought we would deal with a flat cap.
But once we got post SB and no real talk of increase, I figured it would stay the same.

Just thought there was no way the players, this year, would agree to take that financial hit from last year, while also adding a 17th game, which will benefit future players.

Well now I hope we don't resign anyone and wait out FA for some bargain.
Let Jones go for 4 and 60 with Miami, could probably end up getting Kamara for 1 year and 4 million if we are patient enough

We could get half the Saints roster for peanuts if we are patient.

Puttin' my bet down now that the 2022 cap number will be around 225 or 230 though.

1 of a few tweets I've seen on the subject. Obviously lots of things can change.

New TV deals usually/often lead to 20-25% increases in a single year, even if the increases are spread out over multiple years. Losing $15-20 million to the 2020 losses will be dwarfed by what is gained, especially considering we're coming off an anomaly on the downside. MAYBE it'll take until '23 depedning on the structure since not all the deals are up (though it sounds like all are on the verge of extension right now). But my money is on 2022 seeing a 20% increase over 2020 cap number, then minus the losses from 2020 revenues

That number was from the projected $185 million, so add $2.5 million to that number.

They essentially would need to do both. Turning all of Aaron's roster bonus and base salary into a signing bonus would JUST cover the amount we are over the cap. We would still need to free up more money later for draft picks. That is unless they want to sign Aaron to a new deal. Cutting Preston is their other easiest route to take that would not result in a significant talent loss. Resigning Davante may be another viable option for cap savings.

Same, it just made too much sense. 100% wrong unfortunately.

That's weird, but you are correct. Spotrac had the Packers around that -$9,679,306 number with the projected $185 million cap. Now they are at $-8,346,117. I'll take less!

Does our carryover make up the difference?
