Poll: 2nd best QB in the NFCN

I think we can all agree that this offseason went well for us with regards to our opponents' QB situations. Goff is undoubtedly worse than Stafford and seems to be heading for a complete train wreck. Out of all the things the Bears could have done, they ended up taking one of the least impressive options and got Dalton, who could be solid from time to time and might be a step up, but just as easily could be a slight decrease or a wash. Cousins has always been overrated but I must admit he does have good games from time to time, so I probably feel the most concerned about the Queens in the QB department, but still...
Mod Edit: to better gauge where posters stand on the rankings, an option for a second choice has been added. Make your top 2 options known.

The indomitable Tim Boyle is missing from the options
Honestly, for a 1-year plan, it's pretty much a wash between Dalton and Cousins. For any multi-year situation I'd definitely go with Love, if only for the potential to become something more than "just ok", and it's not close.

It is hard to vote for Love before we see him operate at this level.

The second-best QB right now is Cousins, hands down. I guess I will be the only one who will call him a good QB. Not great, but good, and you can win with him.
I actually really like Love's physical tools and he is in a good situation to realize his upside. He definitely offers a higher reward than Cousins. I guess who I would "take" would depend on what my situation is. If I feel like I have a good all-around roster save only for QB and was ready to make a push, I would go Cousins. If I am in full or even semi-rebuild mode, sure, I'll roll the dice on Love.

I mean this is easily Cousins the better question is who is second best.

Didn't realize how bad Dalton's career stats really were.
Worse than 2/1 TD/INT -ratio. 87.5 career QB rating with just one >100 QB rating season and one other >90 QB rating. LOL Trub's career rating is 87.2, just .3 worse than Dalton's. Foles' is .4 worse, with much better peak seasons... Now I can see how Bears' fans were talking about paying two identical mediocre QBs.
Cousins over 10 QB rating points better than Dalton over his career. Goff 4 points higher. AR on another planet.

#1 Rodgers
#2 Love
#3 Boyle
#4 Cousins
#5 Goff
#6 Dalton
Lots of teams are going to be sorry they drafted a bust QB rather than choosing Boyle. He may never be a top 5 QB but better than average on a friendly cap is better than breaking your cap on the 5th best QB.

Cousins is 2nd best as it stands now. Without any real NFL game experience Boyle has a good shot at taking the starting job. If he does the biggest thing that will keep him from being the 2nd best would be the Lions being thier normal train wreck. But given the chance Boyle is going to look good enough to get a real contract from somebody in 2022.

I think if the Lions give Boyle a real chance he beats out Goff. I think Goff is going to be absolutely terrible without McVay.

Boyle for sure.
Neither Goff or Kirk are bad at all.
Dalton isn’t garbage.
None are good.
Can’t really judge Love a wink yet. Other than they liked his progression enough to not resign Boyle, only real piece of evidence we have.
But I think it’s definitely Kirk today for this poll.

Given the two scenarios you presented here, of which I agree are relevant, I definitely go Cousins if you're looking short term and then Love if you're building for the future. But I also wouldn't rule out TBLS as a long term option. He's got the physical tools to play in this league and the foundational knowledge to put those tools to use. All he needs now is opportunity and I think he gets that in Detroit.
I think Dalton proves to be an embarrassment signing for the Bears front office and leads to cleaning house next off season. I also think Goff will be a mistake with Boyle potentially saving the coaches and FO from the same fate.

I'm going with Love. Even if we are talking 1-year plan, Cousins may be the safe money in September and October, but as the calendar turns, I'll roll the dice that he trends up. Cousins has been on plenty of teams that were playoff caliber and yet he has only been there 3 times and has a 1-2 record. Love, for me, and probably Boyle after that. Cousins, Goff, and Dalton are really 3-of-a-kind, aren't they?

A slight modification to the poll has been made to clarify forum opinion. Choose your top 2.

If I am taking contract into consideration.
I only want Boyle and Love.
If I am taking who is currently the 2nd best quarterback in the division, I am going Cousins.

No question, it is Cousins. We can all joke about Love being there right now, but let's be honest. He didn't even dress last year. His ceiling is sky high, but don't put the cart before the horse.
After Cousins it is Goff, then Love.

If Boyle is so good, why did we draft Love? Boyle did well in a few PS games, his greatest asset in real games was his ability to kneel to finish the games, thats about all I know concerning Boyles ability to start more then a game or two.
as to who isn't the second best starter in the division I'd have to go with Cousins, Goff and Dalton will be new to whatever schemes the teams use, so I expect growing pains.

If Cousins hadn't just been paid 35 million, I think everyone would say him. He's a victim of his insane contract creating a negative public perception. He's an above average QB who's biggest challenge is his inconsistency. Some games he looks like a great QB and then he'll look like he didn't show up for film study the next 2 weeks.
So yeah, he's 2nd best but I don't think he's capable of bringing his team to the Super Bowl unless the Vikes have a historic good defense.

He's 1/3 even getting to the playoffs with the Vikings, so yeah, I would have to agree strongly.

If Nick Foles, Matt Ryan, Jimmy Garappolo and Jared Goff can get to Super Bowls, then so can Kirk Cousins.
Can’t imagine it happening this year or next in Minnesota. Maybe in SF in a few years?

nah, he can't and he won't.
His flaws are between the ears and they're not fixable, that's just who he is.
Kirk will never go to a Super Bowl... unless he buys a ticket.
