Here's how this works:

Each day there is a new thread/poll, starting at #1, on down to whereever we get. The whole point of this exercise is to have something to talk about in the lean news months to carry us to camp. Each poll will be open for voting for 24 hours. New threads will only be created on weekdays. Ties will cause a runoff poll.

Simply voting is not enough!

Post why you voted for who you did and provide a player to add to the next poll (every poll will be a list of 10 guys, a new player is added to the list each day).

Here's the thing. There is no criteria. This is an exercise to foster discussion therefore there are no clear criteria for ranking. Who is better right now? Who will have the best season? Who was better last year? Sort of a combo of them all? Do you take positional value into account? It really doesn't matter.

These exercises are fun because if you would have asked people last year who the biggest Kevin King hater on the board was, a lot of us, including me, would have said it's probably me.

And yet here I am voting for him a second time in a row when people are on my favorite UDFA from last year, Krys Barnes; and a draft pick I liked and most hated, AJ Dillon.

I think Lupe gets the award for biggest hater of pan fried noodles. but yet, lupe seems to hate a lot of people.

I am voting for pan fried noodles. I think this is a deserving spot for him.

Barnes was the first player of the year that was not on last year's list. Its assumed that was the next available spot (#43), even though he wasn't even on the poll yet at that time.

So I'm thinking Myers, King, Stokes next. In that order. But I think a good argument could be made for either King or Stokes to go next. But to me Myers is a starting lock on a solid unit; barring total failure or injury he's bound to look pretty good because OL is very team oriented, esp C.

King needs to really rise to the occasion strongly to keep Stokes off his heels. Those flop games he has happen from time to time just can't happen when he has a 1st rounder with wheels waiting to take his job.

Tough choice here.

Went with King, because LaFleur usually lets rookies sit and learn for a while before putting them on the field. King has to improve to see big money as a UFA, always love that as a motivator...

I'm going with King, here. I am very excited about Eric Stokes, but I think we need to slow our roll on any positive OTA reports. We have been down this road before. I think both play a huge role in this season, but I think King takes command early and we'll see how long he can hang on.

Lazard. Impact on the team is noticeable. I don't see that we added anything that should take that away.

Speed kills and Stokes will be taking King's rep sooner than later.

C is Myers's job to lose, which allays my doubt about LaFleur playing a rookie (something he has seemed very resistant about). Andy Herman's recent video has me cautiously optimistic -- sounds like he has some things to get cleaned up, but if our OL coaches can't get it out of him, it can't be done.

I also like Lazard here, though. LaFleur has said that there is a whole swath of plays that they run to make use of his blocking ability, and I think that his receiving is better than it gets credit for. His possession receiver skill-set is a really nice complement to Adams and MVS, I think he is a key part of that trio.

But I have to go with the (likely) starting C first.

My issue with Lazard, like with Allison before and with the signing of Funchess is not in what they do well and can bring to the team, but what they don't do well--which is namely drops. I mean, and create separation, but as long as we have some guys who can do that, I understand getting these physical possession guys who can run block like a boss....

...but if you have a physical possession type I want them to have the surest hands. That's the value in being a possession guy. Ours, throughout the years, have not had that. I thought that would open the door for EQ but after NOT struggling with drops early on, he has developed the yips and had a few high-profile drops for a guy who sees such limited snaps.

If you have a deep threat like MVS who occasionally drops balls, it's like... right, that hurts and it's very very noteworthy because it's a Big Play drop not a Move The Chains drop, but I excuse it more because he brings a unique big play dynamic to the field that others don't. But if your ROLE is a possession receiver, then catch it.

Why Myers ahead of Lucas Patrick or even JRJ? Is it just the seemingly cemented spot?

Lazard for me. I predict he is the receiver that plays the 2nd most and pushes close to 1000 yards receiving.

Yes (also, greater talent than Patrick).

I appreciate Patrick and am bullish on Runyan but it's unclear what their path to the field looks like, especially with Ben Braden apparently being in the mix to "start" (per Stenavich) at Guard. Then you add Newman, Stepaniak, even Van Lanen... the RG is a real wild-card.

Sure, Patrick was the starter there last year and did fairly well, but he also does not have the talent or ceiling that the younger guys have. Also significant, an argument could be made that he has more value on the bench as a C/G than as a starting G.

room for both King and Stokes to start in my 3 CB scenario, however I went with Myers yesterday and will until he's off the board, our OL coach is very happy that we took Myers, he's plug and play.

it's tough now to chose these players, all are deserving of a vote.

Just a fyi, the smartest football fan I know is my son in law but he does not watch the NFL at all, not even the Saints even though he is from LA. He is a fanatic about college football and still a big LSU fan. But a year ago he and my daughter moved to Columbus Ohio and now I have Ohio State t-shirts. He says Josh Myers is a stud.

seriously now do you have a link to that quote? because it doesn't sound anything like a agent would say, basically it's a either, or type stance, and I don't think that helps Rodgers at all.

and I know quite a few people that watch a ton of college ball, and everyone of them would be quick to point out that very successful college QB's flop in the pro game, in fact over half don't receive a second contract from the team that drafted them, teams coach and coach and coach them up only to have to draft another a few years later to try again, heck half the teams in the league are on a rebound course as I type this, just saying, I love (no pun intended) your optimism though

Starting center for sure. Myers has no competition for the position and is set up for success with a talented group around him.

King on the other hand is terrible, not talented and going to be taken over by Stokes quickly.

This should be a no brainer.

He had that opportunity last year. What do you expect to change?

Seeing what he thought he had was not enough. Now it's last chance at starter money -saloon.

But yeah, he shoulda felt like "this is max the cash time" last year too.

So I'm not sold on him. We picked a CB R1 for a reason.
