Each day there is a new thread/poll, starting at #1, on down to whereever we get. The whole point of this exercise is to have something to talk about in the lean news months to carry us to camp. Each poll will be open for voting for 24 hours. New threads will only be created on weekdays. Ties will cause a runoff poll.
Simply voting is not enough!
Post why you voted for who you did and provide a player to add to the next poll (every poll will be a list of 10 guys, a new player is added to the list each day).
Here's the thing. There is no criteria. This is an exercise to foster discussion therefore there are no clear criteria for ranking. Who is better right now? Who will have the best season? Who was better last year? Sort of a combo of them all? Do you take positional value into account? It really doesn't matter.
Deguara and Lancaster are the two I'm most confident will have an every game role on the field.
I think Newman might be my next pick. I think if someone goes down anywhere on the line, things are shuffled so he's the next man up.

Jean-Charles and Deguara. Newman probably my next, but Campbell and Lancaster close. I think Kylin Hill will surprise, but probably not a lot of opportunity.

I would bet against Deguara getting the role that his advocates are projecting, for a number of reasons: Tonyan emerging as TE1 meaning less of a role for an H-back, Lewis coming back, MLF fielding the league's #1 O using guys like Lazard and Dafney as blocking specialists, adding Funchess to the mix, emergence of Dillon likely meaning more 2 RB sets, Deguara being only a second-year player coming off an ACL injury -- you probably want to ease a guy like that back in rather than delegate significant responsibility to them.
I'm sure he'll get a handful of snaps on a semi-regular basis, but I think guys like Funchess, Campbell, and Lancaster will probably get more of them and on a more consistent basis, while Newman has more than a marginal chance to a starting role.

I voted Funchess and Campbell. Andy Herman has these two guys right at this range, as well.
As far as who we have overrated thus far, based on Andy's list, Keke is the glaring one.

Deguara because fun toys are fun, and LaFleur likes to utilize his chess pieces.
Lancaster, because what you want from your run stopper only DL is them being stout and cheap. Lancaster is that. Not starter material, but has his uses.
Campbell and Funchess are so hard to gauge. They may end up being a starters or at least playing a lot of situational snaps, could end up cut.
Guaranteed money suggests both are pretty safe. Lancaster, OTOH, signed a FA deal (not a tender) with no guaranteed money, so I would consider him less safe than the other vets.

You're right. I thought they didn't get big guarantees, but it was more than I thought. Not earth-shattering amounts, but enough for the cut to sting.

Worth noting that Deguara played 31% of the offensive snaps in his very first NFL game, then got hurt. It's not difficult to extrapolate that he would se improved time as he develops. 31% is a healthy number of plays for a 3rd round rookie TE in week one.

this is about the range where a 2nd year 3rd round pick who was hurt most of his rookie season would slot, but HB has to be able to pick up blitzers and read the pre sets of defenses, tough call for a guy who has missed so much playing time.

Sure, but then this offseason the big bit of significance was re-signing Jones despite Dillon's emergence.
There was some time with 2 backs on the field last year, but I'm guessing that's going to hugely grow. The two roles that will most be impacted by increased use of both backs on the field together will be FB and WR3.
I think Deguara's potential role in 2021 is lower than it was in 2020. MLF found a new tangent in 2020.

Rookie third-round pick Josiah Deguara was supposed to fill that “F” role this season, but he wound up playing in only two games before suffering a season-ending torn ACL in his knee in October. Ex-Ivy League quarterback John Lovett was the next option, before he too went down with a torn ACL. And Jace Sternberger, a third-round pick last year, seemed to be filling the void until landing in the concussion protocol. Sternberger hasn’t played since Dec. 6.
“We love the versatility of guys you can put up on the line of scrimmage, you can spread them out or you can put them in the backfield. I just think it adds a whole new layer to your offense that the defense has to prepare for,” LaFleur explained. “And (Dafney) is a guy that has shown he can handle that role and you can move him all over the place. That’s why these guys have got to be pretty smart because you ask them to wear a lot of different hats and do a lot of different things really well at a high level. And he’s been able to own that.
“You’d never know he’s a rookie. He can handle a lot. The game’s not too big for him, and that’s evident. When he walks in that huddle, there’s no doubt he knows he belongs, and it’s evident by the play on the field.“
Rodgers isn’t the only player who has noticed, either. While the kid had 113 fewer catches than star wide receiver Davante Adams did during the regular season, Adams most certainly has been watching the 23-year-old Dafney, too.
“Daf is one of the most versatile dudes I’ve been around, and I’ve been around a lot of players who’ve done a lot for this team,” Adams said. “Great hands. He can run routes. He’s got a lot more speed than people give him credit for. And he’s just a confident dude having fun out there. You can see when he scored (or) when he makes a block for somebody. He’s just real unselfish. And that goes a long way in this league and does a lot for our team.“
