Crosby's struggles
There might be a lot that goes into Crosby's struggles, but I think much of it is that Menengna never had the outside rusher blocked. He seems to miss mostly to the left, and even on ones he makes often they will be off to the left. Even if the rusher doesn't get there, it has to mess with you in trying to pull the ball away from the rusher.
Then there is the inconsistency in the snapper and holder, which are other issues. But I think what I described above is at least a big part of the problem. Hopefully now with a new ST coordinator the blocking will change.

Mason will have lots of competition next season in camp.
I believe they will be looking to replace him.

Yeah, definitely seems like the changes with his holder, snapper, and having far more pressure in his face has screwed with him. The one thing we could hang our hat on about our ST unit and Mo somehow ruined that. Bojo is the lone bright spot on that unit because he was already good when he got here so our coaches have not been able to make him suck, but they will try.

Yeah I think there is quite a bit to the holding issues - I 'don't know much about kicking/holding but you see them on the sidelines after the miss and can tell he is talking about the holding of the ball.
IMO, this isn't a Crosby issue in the least. It has everything to do with the entire operation around him.

Well, the rumor was that our practice squad kicker is being protected every week because Crosby is expected to retire after this season.
I don't think it's Crosby struggling though. Seems like it's the holder, snapper, and blocking operations.

Crosby will make over $2mil next year so he’s probably not retiring.
Because the team restructured his contract this past off season, the Packers would only save $50k in cap space if they cut him next year.
Trade would be an option. But unlikely.

I think 2.35 million in savings.
We’ll save on his 2.25 million salary, 500k workout bonus and 650k roster bonus. (3.4 million) less his 3 voidable years of signing bonus at 335k yeah year (1.05 million). 3.4-1.05 = 2.35 million by my quick math.
On the doink yesterday, the replay shown from the endzone camera clearly showed the laces out. There wasn't anything (rhythm-wise) that was notable in the blocking nor snap/hold sequence either.
There is no doubt the FG operation has been struggling. They replaced the holder to begin the year. They've replaced the LS mid-year. Could it be one of those replacements causing all the misses? Sure, but it kinda feels like a missing-the-forest-for-the-trees type situation if we're not looking directly at Mason at this point.

Yeah the Packers are put in a bind here. This is worse honestly than 2012 was for Mason.
Fortunately it has only cost us 1 - 2 games but this can't be a season ender for us in the playoffs. Especially when we have a kicker on the practice squad already.
I am getting to the point of seeing what Molsen can do. This situation sucks. I don't envy MLF's position on how to proceed here.
But Mason has missed more than he has made since Week 5. That is 2 months.

Masón gave the holder the look he learned from rodgers when a WR runs a bad route. I felt Crosby should have pulled out a pocket mirror and looked at himselfAPB wrote: ↑29 Nov 2021 07:54On the doink yesterday, the replay shown from the endzone camera clearly showed the laces out. I still think it has a lot to do with not blocking the outside right rusher.

Except there was nothing wrong with the block the last few games.

Trust is a must. Mason doesn't trust others or himself at the moment.
Yeah, the operation appears to be running smoothly but Mase is not focused on his kick, clearly worried about things around him going wrong.

Mo Drayton said the wind was wreaking havoc on the ball.
Side note... Mo is a really hard person to dislike. Hope he gets it fixed and he sticks around.

Matt Gay seemed to handle it well. His kicks were right down the middle.
Lambeau is Crosby’s home field. He’s been kicking there since Yoop was a youngin’. You’d think he’d have some sort of advantage with his knowledge of the place. Instead, Mason missed another (and flirted with another couple misses) while the visiting indoor kicking Gay nailed all his kicks without any doubt.
I like Mo, too, but he’s just making excuses for Crosby. More excuses in a season full of excuses, that is.
I don’t like him (as a coach) because I like coaches that don’t suck.

He is missing almost always left. They let the right rusher free. While the rusher doesn't get there to block it, he is darn close. Nearly every time. Subconsciously he is pulling it left because of the rusher being so close. Add in the snapoer and holder problems, and it has been bad.APB wrote: ↑29 Nov 2021 18:30Matt Gay seemed to handle it well.
