Playoff Seeding

Post by RingoCStarrQB »

Pack is now the #2 seed behind the 8 and 1 Cardinals. Falcons are #7. In between are the Buccaneers #3, Cowboys #4, Rams #5 and Saints #6.

Cards will lose a couple more. Rams so far don't seem like a threat really. Tampa and Dallas are the biggest competition in NFC.

The same Dallas team that got smoked at home yesterday against Denver?

The entire NFL is up for grabs. There are top and bottom teams. But it's not like it's just 3 or 4 at the top anymore. 7 teams with at least 6 wins. And that doesn't count the Saints, Bills, Chargers, and other dangerous teams.

I always find it funny how people have predetermined biases on why to worry about some teams compared to other teams when they both essentially have the same record.

All this to say projecting playoff seeding midway through the season is pretty much a waste of time.

Agreed.

I will usually look at teams and divisions on a high level and be like, "okay what does their division look like"

So take Dallas for instance, their division leads one to believe they have a good chance of wracking up a lot of wins due to being in an easy division. But that is about as far as one can take it as we honestly don't know the quality of the Cowboys yet. Just way too much can happen.

So usually I root for the top teams in a division to drop games but most importantly, if the Packers keep on track with 2 or 3 losses going into December, they at least have a shot at claiming the top seed.

This time of year, once you get to 4 losses, your top seed hopes are pretty small. Also, once you get to 6 losses before December, your playoff hopes are also pretty small.

Still in #1 seed Consideration

AZ, LAR, GB, DAL, TB, NO

Still in Playoff Consideration

ATL, CAR, SEA, SF, MN

One more Loss & Playoff Hopes Likely Done

PHI, NYG, WASH, CHI

Playoff Hopes Are Done

DET

Right now there is most likely 5 teams with a valid shot at the top seed (NO's is pretty unlikely) and 11 teams who can still have a reasonable hope for the post season.

We will know a lot more on this list in 2 or 3 weeks which is why it usually doesn't makes sense to start looking at playoff pictures until Thanksgiving.

Unless you think the Packers will lose to Baltimore on the road, I'd recommend imagining a 15-2 record and a 1st round BYE. Study the remaining schedule .... looks to be a table runner. :aok:
Defense, Defense!! Go Packers!!

I think ST's can manage to lose another game. And it is a 17 game season.

I'm going with 14-3 or 13-4. I think our hardest games coming up will be:

@Vikings
@Ravens
Browns
Rams
Seattle (if Rodgers doesn't play)

If we can win 3 of those 5 games, I think 13-4 is a given.

There are no givens, but yeah, I looks like we are certainly trending that way. Pretty impressive we just went 4-1 playing one home game the last 5 weeks. A lot of Lambeau tilts coming up!!

I absolutely do not want to see an 0-16 Lions team heading into Week 18.

Oh I 100% want to see the 0-16 Lions that week. We might be fighting for a 1 seed so a competitive game would be nice.

I was at the 0-16 game, was beautiful. Would love to make 0-17 a reality as well.

I remember being really cold, and drunk. And then falling through a snow bank. Good times.

My favorite time of year is back: checking the playoff seeding thread for GPG to let me know who I should be cheering for each week.

I still say that TB is our biggest threat this year; they are a veteran team just going through the motions of a long season right now. They will be a tough out in January, let alone the fact that they are probably are biggest matchup problem.

There is very clear evidence that shows teams with little playoff experience (esp at the QB position) have little success in the playoffs so I'm not worried about ARI at all. Even before we played them, I told a couple guys that if a healthy GB met them in the playoffs, it'd be 2010 ATL all over again.

The Rams look strong, but we are their boogeyman.

MM will find a way to blow it in the playoffs.

Oh, and the boys up north are about to add 3 All Pro's.

I agree. Ultimately I believe TB is the team to watch for in January the most.

Agree, they are right there and you know they will be a tough out.

I was big on TB last year too. ;)
