  Finally

As a 90s kid, him Eric Turner, and Darren Woodson were my favorites and the reasons I played safety.

Imagine what LeRoy has in his mind now! He’s gotta be completely 150% jacked about this.

This guy changed the Packer defense. He was the chess piece that the D could employ in so many ways. He was as much LB as Safety. He could blitz very well. He covered TEs like glue. He tackled very well. He was savvy about the plays and game time. Just a great player to watch.
Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!

So well deserved. 20 sacks and 38 INTS as a safety. 4 times All-Pro.

I've got my Pro Football Hall of Fame mini-helmet waiting for the next opportunity for Leroy to sign it.

Here's a good read if you haven't done so already:

Bring on the gold jacket for Leroy. And subsequently elect Sharpe, Gillingham, Howton, Dilweg and Lewellen to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

GO PACKERS!

Yep, it was past time, but well worth the wait and sweeter now than it would have been. Hell of a career.

Good for him. He definitely deserves it based on his numbers and production. Atwater never should have gotten in over him first.

Nor should have John Lynch!

You could rightly add Cecil Isbell to that list, too.

I'm not sure what to make of Howton though. Lombardi ran him out of town after just one meeting!

Howton was the all time NFL leader in receptions when he retired.

yep Howton was gifted, I remember my Father being upset when Vince traded him, I feel every player on your list has been a HOF snub.

Finally Leroy gets the recognition he's been so long over do, I hope eventually the rest are voted in

Howton was named the Packers' player representative and president of the NFL Players Association in 1958, and played a major role in establishing a pension fund for players, which was a debated topic with club owners at the time.

In January 1959, the Packers hired Vince Lombardi as head coach and general manager after the team's worst record ever (1–10–1) in 1958. In April, Lombardi traded Howton to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for defensive end Bill Quinlan and halfback Lew Carpenter.[6][7][8] Lombardi desired receivers who could block, which was not Howton's strength.[1][9]

Through the years, there has been speculation that his NFL Players Association ties were the real reason behind the trade.

Howton was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1974.

Does this put the Packers ahead of Bears for most HOF?

In addition to being a great player, as has been aptly described, Butler is also just such a great ambassador for the organization and part of the community around the state. You will see him at so many of the team's events, he has that segment breaking down some of the tape of our D... he's just continued to be a part of the 'Org in so many ways. I met him at a family friend's graduation, just a real nice and personable guy.

'So awesome to see him get this honor. :beer2:
