This is so close the exact consensus package everyone was saying would be good/fair (among Packers People, not Jets people)
Lord give us a healthy season from Rodgers to get that 1st.
Funniest thing to me would be if we trade back from 13 after all that (and get another future 1st, haha)

The only question left is the tweak to Rodgers' contract. Very curious to see what that looks like. May flip the script for a lot of people.

Absolutely I want to trade back even more now.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑24 Apr 2023 15:49This is so close the exact consensus package everyone was saying would be good/fair (among Packers People, not Jets people)

What I expected from the trade:
Started out:
This Year's First and Next Year 2nd
Then Went To:
Next Year's First and This Year 2nd
Actual Result:
This Year 2nd, strong likelihood of next year 1st and swap 5th and 6th rounder.
Pretty much exactly as I expected. I am really glad the conditional is based on playing time only and not performance based. I hate performance based.

If Love is good, we stock the team next year. If Love stinks, we have three picks to go get the top QB or two in the draft.
It'd be ideal.
As it is, having what we already have could be great. Cool class to have two picks in the 40s.
Fair deal. Don’t think anybody got ripped off. Getting 13 without giving up 15 would have been super cool, but no need to be greedy.

From everything I am seeing, there is no further cap absorption by the Packers. Any contract renegotiation is between Rodgers and the Jets.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/362 ... iple-picks
Instead, the Jets will inherit the remainder of his contract, which includes $59.465 million guaranteed in salary and bonus this season. Most of it is made up of a $58.3 million bonus that is due no later than Week 1 of this season.
The Packers now must absorb $40.3 million in dead money on their salary cap. Because his bonus money is pro-rated, Rodgers won't cripple the Jets' cap. He will count $15.8 million in 2023 and $32.5 million in 2024, cap-friendly for a player of his stature.
It's unclear if Rodgers renegotiated his contract to facilitate the trade.
.... to the Jets for 15!YoHoChecko wrote: ↑24 Apr 2023 15:49Funniest thing to me would be if we trade back from 13 after all that (and get another future 1st, haha)
(wouldn't get a future first out of it, but maybe finagle those other 2s).

Yeah, it is fair.
And I too would like to see the Packers trade back, get a late 1st and another 2nd. So with a 1st and three 2nd's the Packers get the safety, the TE and a pass rusher

I see this much like a lot of the moves Gute has made in recent years. It’s the best decision he could have made after a long series of atrocious decisions.
I’m proud of him for having some conviction and sticking to the plan he put in motion 3 years ago. At some point Love needed to play and we needed to get something from that absolutely terrible draft.

Poor Aaron's gotta come up with a better excuse for not showing up for voluntary OTAs/minicamp than not being on the team yet, might even have to show up for them.

As much as I like the whole "Stock up on picks so we have 3 1st round picks next year in case Love stinks", I say screw that. Love is going to be great, let's get him another WR to throw to high in this draft. Build this offense up!
It was important to have capital next year even more so than this year.
In the event Love doesn't pan out we will have 2 firsts to move up to get a top qb.

We shouldn't trade any of these pics for future pics. We should use them to build and we will have enough capital next year if Love doesn't turn out.

You’ll have to find a better excuse than to blame Rodgers as well.

It's sad to see Rodgers go but I think both sides got close to what they wanted. I'm excited now to see what Love can do.

Glad it's finally done. 30+ years of HOF QB play. Will that trend continue? It's improbable. But I am excited for the new chapter and will be rooting for Love.
