Week 9 Post-Game: Packers 20 Rams 3
They didn’t look like Super Bowl contenders by any stretch but, by god, they showed some fire today and beat a team they should have beat.

9 to go boom. Good to see a win. Sloppy at times but the d overall kicked ass. Brooks had a day. Jaire could have went to God like but missed a few.
Nice to win in the trenches

Even tho Stafford didn't play I thought the D played better than it has in a while. Having Campbell back helped.
What a difference we are with Jones back out there. The Rams' DL is nothing to sneeze at and we had some nice runs today. Love threw several nice passes too.
Penalties are still a major issue. Those and fumbles kept the game close for more than 3 quarters.

Defense showed up and dominated the team across from them. Doesn't matter who it was.
Offense showed some life. A TON to clean up still. But it wasn't another side or back step. A lot of guys banged up. Hoping no one is hurt seriously.

D, as some said, did what it was supposed to do. Can't take that for granted. Need to put off the "fire Barry" train for another week.
The O actually looked like it would get unhooked and find some rythm in the second half until those fumbles. Then, once it had no penalties or turnovers, it did exactly what it was supposed to do. It scored! Did everybody see the faces after the Musgrave TD? It's like there was a collective sigh that they felt like a monkey got off their backs.
I actually think this team can match up against the Steelers next week. Need to capitalize on the momentum on offense. But with our D playing okay, we can stifle their offense.

Come on down and try some of our delicious green chili! Best in the world!

Positives:
- Jaire (after the 1st quarter)
- Love stepped into more throws which helped his accuracy. Still a lot to clean up, and it helps they weren't behind all game.
- O line run blocked better
- Nijman was an upgrade until he got hurt again
- Brooks, Wooden, McDuffie, and Valentine all played well. Johnson showed some speed, I thought.
- Watson finally won a contested catch
- Musgrave stayed on his feet for a change and scored
- Doubs had a good game; good chemistry with Love
Negatives:
- Phantom offsides
- Fumbles
- MLF abandoned the run a couple times
- Some weird clock management
- Still can't run screens

Today is exactly how I envisioned the style of play for the Packers this year.
Run the ball, keep the chains moving, and have Love make the occasional pass play when the opportunity presents itself. Don’t put the game on his shoulders, though. On defense, be aggressive and control the LOS. Don’t concede a damn thing. Keep the pressure on and get off the field.
Yeah, the Rams were a banged up, inferior opponent but the style of play is what I found most satisfying about todays win. Now they just gotta build on it.

Extremely disappointed. I thought they could lose out and get at worst pick 3, and clean house. They just didn't want it bad enough. Though if there was a team on the remaining schedule that they were likely to beat it was the Rams (even with Stafford, and especially without).

Would love to see the grades for this referee crew. They were atrocious. Both ways not just on our calls. Hard to watch these games with that kind of s--t show from them. Darryl Johnston was doing his best to understand the calls but even he was stumped. They did Blandino a favor by not even bringing him in after awhile.
On a positive note, some of our young guys really came through for us. Valentine played much more aggressive towards the ball then he did in Denver. We used Jones inside the 5yd line!!! Woohoo!!

To echo others, a win is a win.
Rypien has no business being in the NFL, he was horrible.
But we've played horrible QBs before and played that soft, passive brand of D, not today.
I liked the aggressiveness out of the rookies Valentine & Brooks

This team needs a rebuild from the ground up at least as badly as in 1990 (Wolf was hired in 1991). One win against what is the worst team in the league when they don't have their QB (top 4 worst even with Stafford) doesn't change that. Winning meaningless games now hurts the future.BF004 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2023 16:53Least surprising comment of the day.wallyuwl wrote: ↑05 Nov 2023 16:23Extremely disappointed. I thought the oline was very good today.
This is the unfortunate truth. Whilst good to win ultimately it sets us back. This team is on the path of a rebuild whether we like it or not and the higher the pick the better.wallyuwl wrote: ↑05 Nov 2023 17:07This team needs a rebuild from the ground up at least as badly as in 1990 (Wolf was hired in 1991). A loss will only help if Jordan is not the guy and we need a QB.bud fox wrote: ↑05 Nov 2023 17:46This is the unfortunate truth. Whilst good to win ultimately it sets us back. I'm not sure we are there yet with all the other garbage on O right now.
If Love can be a top 10, even top 15 guy, then we need to start building a winning culture ASAP.
Go 2-15 and he is much more likely to get fired than 5-12. 3-14 is still in play. He gets fired, someone else runs the draft.APB wrote: ↑05 Nov 2023 17:58What does it matter if Gutebumst can’t draft worth a &%$@ anyway?bud fox wrote: ↑05 Nov 2023 17:46This is the unfortunate truth. Sundays must be such a hoot in your house. Complain when they win. Complain when they lose. Cheer for the absolute worst for your team.
