You'd think he would be glad his boy Sean Clifford is finally getting his due!

Surprised at the LS cut. Last year's dude wasn't good enough. And now he's the lone guy on the roster today?
I wonder if this is goodbye or sort of a wink nod "we're re-signing you as soon as Love signs" kinda deal; seems maybe easier to get through a practice with only one LS than by cutting the excess WRs or whatever.
Also sounds like Andre Dillard is proving not even to be worth a veteran backup presence kind of deal, but I guess if he was going to be a reclamation project you gotta give it a little time to reclaim. A little surprised he's been locked at RT and no competing at OG where he might have a better chance to revitaltize his career, though he was signed as a RT. Anyway, with Morgan spending most of his time at OG and Dillard looking like garbage, the OT depth feels a little thin

I agree. There is some room for concern there. Another thing I don't understand, that I didn't see any tweets about yesterday, was that they apparently worked Jordan Morgan at RG and Sean Rhyan at LG with Jenkins at OC. Seems like if that is the pairing you want, just keep Rhyan at RG and give Morgan the shot at LG. They always seem to be overthinking the moving parts at OL.YoHoChecko wrote: ↑23 Jul 2024 13:02A little surprised he's been locked at RT and no competing at OG where he might have a better chance to revitaltize his career, though he was signed as a RT. I wish I knew more about WHY he looks like garbage. From the clips I've seen, he doesn't seem to be mentally processing what's going on and is always late to react. At this point in his career, that shouldn't be happening.
Dillard's showing here and in OTAs might have spurred the new reduced deal for Newman ?

I think I might agree on that, but given how much they are rotating the OGs, I will wait to see other lineups. By most reports, Walker has stayed at LT and Dillard at RT all offseason, and through both days of practice, where as Morgan, Rhyan, Myers, and to lesser extents Monk (C/G) and Newman (R/L) have moved about a bit. So maybe just opportunities to get guys comfortable on both sides.NCF wrote: ↑23 Jul 2024 13:06I agree. There is some room for concern there. I'm very surprised by the lack of OT lineup movement, though. Dillard just isn't good enough and without Tom locking down the right side, it seems like a good time to let other guys try. And they just... aren't.
I hope we pull Dillard at RT soon and start Jordan Morgan's trial-by-fire. Let him get tested now so he's ready for what he would face this season, than waste those reps on a reclamation project that appears headed for failure.
My only real hopes for Dillard when we signed him was that maybe he'd finally push Newman off the roster, but it looks like he might not even give us that much.

Labrev- your guy Monk had 2 fumbled snap exchanges today per the reddit tweeters.
Can you please reach out and let him know its time to get his rear in gear ?

I thought the book on Dillard was very similar to Spriggs, and why I have concerns about Morgan. Hes super athletic but I dont think he has the strength for the NFL. Athleticism and technique goes right out the window when you are getting youre getting molly whopped. I wasnt a fan of this signing and I think its always weird when Gutenbumst goes after these really bad journeymen OTs as our OT depth. Like we have seen these guys bounce from team to team because they suck and we go with the proven bum instead of just growing our own.
The last two seasons we kept our own and grew in house but before that it was Dennis Kelly. Then before that it was Rickey Wagner. Thats already on top of having what was a really bad (and significantly overpaid) journeyman OT in Billy Turner. The year before that it was Jared Veldheer.
Dropping the LS was strange. If we go into the next season with Orzech again it will be a mistake. He is a bad LS and I think a bigger part of the problem to Anders kicking than Anders was.
