Yes, but what I mean is that a free kick from anywhere is possible and counts as a FG.

TC Report via Reddit

https://www.reddit.com/r/GreenBayPacker ... _aug_13th/

Here's the offense notes

Offense:

It wasn’t a good route, but Jordan Love connects with Dontayvion Wicks for about 25 yards on a crossing route at the start of today’s practice. Keisean Nixon slipped in coverage on the play, and Love fired a laser.

Pratt throws a - dare I say - laser to Jalen Wayne.
Love hits a deep ball to Watson. Stokes in coverage. Another downfield play for the offense.

Packers might need to start thinking about Michael Pratt as number 2 even more. If he’s this good and doesn’t even know the playbook yet it’s super intriguing. Just found Sims on a corner route rolling to his right for a big gain. He’s been absolute money lately.

Love with a gorgeous throw him open pass to Musgrave but 88 can’t hang on.
Love tries to hit a seam throw in between the corner and safety to Reed but juuuuust off his fingertips.

Love compete to Melton short on a quick out.
Love had Davis on a deep post but big overthrow.

Love fits a go ball deep to Reed through Bullard and McKinney. Good for more than 30 yards.
Now connects with Doubs on an out. Good period for QB1.

Tucker Kraft getting some 11-on-11 snaps today.

Oh my god.
A SCREEN PASS THAT WORKED!!!!! Love hits Musgrave on the TE screen and Kraft takes out two defenders with a block.
Nice pickup for the offense.

Swing pass to Dillon for a good gain
Run gets stuffed.

Incomplete on 3rd.
Ben Sims with a nice catch over the middle from Clifford and a nice little move after the catch. Two nice plays from Sims so far.

Gary was CLOSE to a sack on love and possibly got it. Love connects on 16 yd slant to Wicks. Clocks it and hits Doubs for the 2 yd TD on an out

Love executes a gorgeous little drive. 22 seconds left. Opposing 18 yard line. No timeouts. Slant to Wicks for 16. Spike. Touchdown to Doubs who was wide open.

Same situation for Pratt. Incomplete in the end zone. Had a chance for a td but overthrows out of bounds.

Complete on the next play to Melton to the 6 and out of bounds.
Is there a new number 2 QB? Pratt getting both 2 minute drills.

Pratt immediately slings two completions. Hicks and Sims, both over the middle.

Spike.

Throw away on 3rd.

FG unit on.

Practice ends with Pratt hitting Sims for 29 yards in seam to set up Hale 46 yarder to end practice.

Interesting it ends with a Hale FG.

Always liked Pratt coming out of school. I thought he would have went somewhere towards the end of day 2. I thought when we drafted him he’d beat Clifford out year 1.

Christian Watson undid his cornrows and the resultant legendary fro kept his helmet from staying on during a diving catch from Love. Probably the crowd favorite play for the day.

I hope so. Clifford left me underwhelmed; I didn't see much in the way of improvement compared to last year.

From Andy Herman today

'Packers running a bunch of read option today. It’s worked decently but Arron Mosby was all over that one on Clifford for a tfl. Pratt hits Heath over the middle. Slightly behind him but Heath adjusts for a nice pickup. May have been a fumble at the end of the play and Heath was slightly shaken up but doesn’t seem serious at all. No trainer by him. Pratt to Melton next. Pratt low key on fire today."

Love gets TJ Slaton to jump with a hard count. Takes a shot over the middle knowing he has a free play - McDuffie skies to tip the ball and it falls perfectly for Quay for the pick. Next play Love gets immediately pressured by Smith - throws one up for Musgrave and it looks like it’s going to be complete but Jaire breaks on it and makes the beautiful pick along the sidelines.

Former Packers OT Billy Turner is here. FWIW, he’s keeping the door open to play another season. WOW !

Pratt now in with the twos. Emanuel Wilson with another nice runwith the 2’s. Showed off the burst. Pratt fires one for a comeback to Heath. Pratt fires again over the middle to Toure on a great throw - Williams knocks it out at the very end though. Incomplete Pratt drops sidearm to Davis who catches but falls down in the process. Nice job by 17 to avoid the ball getting batted down. Pratt with a dime deep down the right sidelines. King was in good coverage and it was a contested play but one Melton needs to find a way to come down with. Really nice stretch of play from Pratt.

more from Herman

Love - Wicks - TD.
Ballentine looks around for a flag for a push off but doesn’t get it. The connection between those two has been great in camp. :aok:

I have no problem with bring back Billy Turner and having him as a backup OT/OG and he is paid backup money. But paying him the 4 year/28 million was $%@# retarded. Turner was an awful starter, always loved by Packers fans for some weird reason.

From Rob Reischel at Forbes

BUZZ IN THE AIR:
Safety Zayne Anderson is one of just three Packers who’s been part of a Super Bowl team.

Anderson was on Kansas City’s practice squad when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 2022. Long snapper Matt Orzech and cornerback Robert Rochelle were with the Los Angeles Rams when they won the Super Bowl in 2021.

Anderson experienced the buzz that goes with being on a championship team in Kansas City, and says he feels a similar sense of excitement with the current Packers.

“You can feel it man,” Anderson said. “I’ve been on a Super Bowl team. I’ve got a Super Bowl ring. So I’ve been a part of teams like that and you know, you can just feel that atmosphere. It’s electric here.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do and it’s one thing at a time and we’ve got to maximize this preseason and getting in these reps with the new defense. But I think we’re headed in the right direction.”

couple of notes from Matt Schneidman on CB Kalen King

"Seventh-round rookie corner Kalen King continues to make plays and has been a welcome addition to the Packers’ nickel group. After intercepting his college teammate Clifford on Tuesday, he had a nice pass breakup of Michael Pratt’s deep ball to Melton down the right sideline on Wednesday.

“He’s just really instinctive,” LaFleur said of King, who The Athletic’s Dane Brugler projected as a 2024 first-round pick in May 2023 before an underwhelming junior season. “He’s a really good football player. The more opportunities he gets, the more he seems to show up and make plays.”

Two straight years IMO the steal of the draft went to the Packers and taking 7th round CBs that should have went somewhere in the 3rd-5th range.

Edgerrin Cooper returns to practice ( yay !)
Packers signed FB Henry Pearson
Former Packers OL coach, James Campen spotted at practice, speculation is to perhaps to join GB in the scouting dept.
From Silverstein: James Campen is serving as a consultant in the personnel department.
Should help them a lot identifying O-line prospects as well as evaluating their own.

Second-to-last open practice of camp.
Injury additions: AJ Dillon (stinger) Spencer Waege (concussion) Andre Dillard (shoulder) Tyler Davis (shoulder) Preston Smith (illness)
Also, RB Jarveon Howard released

Love to Kraft on a screen for a BIG gain. Probably the best executed screen I’ve seen from GB in a while.

Love to Musgrave complete for a short gain. Love to Reed on a wide receiver screen that also works. Offense making everything look good at the moment. Good pressure by the defense but Love somehow finds Kraft out wide on a checkdown for a handful of yards.

Love to Doubs. Behind him but Doubs got his hands on it but couldn’t haul it in. Should have been an easy completion. First mistake from the offense. Love to Watson complete over the middle. Another one that in the game Watson would have taken a hit but this time Quay kept him safe.

Quick FG period: Carlson good from 41 and 45 Joseph good from 41, wide right from 43 Hale good from 43 and 45

Love complete to Reed for a nice pickup followed by another really nice Jacobs run and a crosser to Kraft for a big gain and the offense is on

Two deep throws so far, two completions from Jordan Love to Romeo Doubs. The connection is real and has the potential to be spectacular.

Offense starts with two really nice runs by Josh Jacobs and a complete deep crosser to Romeo Doubs from Love. Love had all day. Beautiful throw from 10 to 87. Great start for the offense.

Starters in team:
Love Jacobs- Reed - Watson - Wicks Kraft Walker - EJ - Myers - Rhyan - Tom Gary -
Slaton - Clark - Enagbare- Quay - McDuffie- Stokes - Nixon - Jaire McKinney - Bullard
