Oh, those fickle football gods.
Just as things were setting up for this contest to be a sprint to the finish, the football goods waved their hand and, just like that, it is now most assuredly over.
It all came down to the Packer game with most of the mob going with the underdog Packers while the pick leader, @wallyuwl, played it safe with the home team favorite Queens. A Packer victory would have rewarded those with faith in our young lads a last gasp chance to get a run at the title in the final week. Unfortunately, as it played out the safer bet was the better pick as wally and his new bestie team Vikings disposed of the Packers and he widened his lead over the trailing peloton of prognosticators.
At least the rest of us haven't fouled our souls.
With his lead now bolstered to 3 with one week remaining, it'll take a miracle of sorts to catch him.
...or week 18 mass benching of players to completely throw a wrench into things!
The fat lady ain't singing just yet but she's warming up the pipes. It's now or never to snatch victory from defeat! Can wally hang on? Can somebody else correctly pick the unofficial playoff bye week frenzy and catch him? It's time to find out...
Now, on to the picks!The rules are simple:
- Choose an outright winner from the four select games of the week
- Choose an outright winner from the Packers matchup
The upset pick can be from the previous five games already in play or any of the other weekly NFL matchups on the schedule, so long as your chosen underdog victor was listed as a kickoff dawg. For reference, a listing of Vegas odds can be found here.
- Choose an outright upset winner from any weekly matchup
I will maintain a cumulative tally of correct choices with the winner declared at the end of the regular season. You'll get a mulligan for two weeks, be it forgotten picks or a bad week, but the rest are on you. The winner will be declared at season's end for the participant with the most correct picks. In the event of a tie, the participant with the most correct upset picks will be declared the winner. If upset picks also result in a tie, then total overall correct picks (no mulligan weeks) will determine the winner.
