Paul Allen trying (and failing) to contain his anger is just hilarious to listen to.... :rotf:

Thankfully we didn't get that douche canoe of an announcer.

Makes me sad as I wonder how much longer the radio game caller announcers are going to last before they retire.

Wayne Larivee, Larry McCarren, even Paul Allen. These are the only voices I know when it comes to local radio football calls. So many memories of these guys.

They are all getting up there in age. I guess Paul started calling right when I started listening so he is younger.

Larry - 73 years old
Wayne - got to be close to 70 years old
Paul - 59 years old

He's still funny to listen to when the Vikings suck. I have so many memories of listening to him while corn harvesting.

He does exactly what he needs to do which is draw attention to the Vikings and the sport.

I loved the “ why do you even ponder passing” lol

Then they drafted Ponder, and there was a radio edit that would always say how do you ponder, Ponder

Radio calls started with McGee and Irwin for me. Wayne and Larry took over nicely. They’ll have replacements and hopefully they’re as good

same here, Max and Irwin where my only way of hearing Packer games when I lived in Chicago area 70's and 80's, always liked those two, although I have no real complaints with Larry or Wayne, just don't require the radio as much the last 30 or so years,, sorta felt some redemption when Brett did that back side heave right into coverage, reminiscent of some dumb game ending throws when he was our QB,

Ted Moore

“Third down and inches to go to pay dirt. 17-14, Cowboys out in front. Starr begins the count and he takes the quarterback sneak and he’s in for the touchdown and the Packers are out in front. The Green Bay Packers are going to be world champions,” Moore yelled out, as the 50,000-plus frozen faithful in the Lambeau Field stands went delirious.

Moore did the radio broadcasts for all six of the NFL championship games that the Packers under Lombardi played in.

I didn’t listen to radio of Packer games back then. I always watched them on TV. I loved Ray Scott with his simplistic announcing. “Starr, Dowler, Touchdown Green Bay.” It was so cool having the same broadcaster for your team.

After the Glory Years it just wasn't the same. Things evolved to Brent Musburger, Phyllis George and Jimmy The Greek. Other things evolved into Frank Gifford, Howard Cosell and Dandy Don. And Summerall and Brookshire. Then Madden of course.
