Huge fan of Matthew Golden, I like him a lot.

I'm doubting he makes it past 12 though.

I do too. People will love his 40 time but, he looks like a guy that knows how to play receiver too. The highlights I have watched he looks like a fairly natural ball catcher and also tracks deep balls well. Looks like he has good run after catch instincts ( being fast helps that :)) , to turn a WR screen into a 50 yard TD or just flat out run past quite a few corners on a fly or double move deep ball etc.

Don't know about 12, but would likely require a move up to become a Packer nonetheless, and your probably right anyway of him being long gone.

I didnt think Golden had that kind of speed. I was expecting high 4.3s. What made me like him was his body control and he always catches with his hands. For being sub 6' he plays like a big receiver and wins leaping over people if he doesnt just run by them. Tracking is really good. The only thing he nees to work on is improving his release packages off the line. Outside of that its pretty clear he is going to be a great WR in the league. I dont think he goes over T Mac but probably goes shortly after. Theres only 2 legitimate WRs in this class that without a doubt are going to be good players and the league has really shifted to having 2 competent WRs.

What do you make of Egbuka? I am coming around to him more than I thought I would.

I am also really on board with Jalen Royals. Not sure why he is being so overlooked.

Ran a 4.42 at the Combine and had impressive jumps at his Pro Day.
Royals, who participated in the 2025 NFL Combine last month in Indianapolis, Indiana, tested out with a 36.0-inch vertical jump and a 10-1 broad jump.

I like him and think hes going to be a good player but he doesnt have the potential to be in the category as leagues best because he lacks any elite traits. I think the ceiling can be a Stephon Diggs or Terry McClaurin type. He can get open and make plays with the ball in his hands. I think he body catches too much but he was so wide open at OSU he was afforded to. Im concerned about his ability to win in those contested catch situations, especially when I think because his lack of elite traits. Better CBs I think will erase him.

What are some positions and who are some prospects that don't fit into our consensus top needs (WR, CB, DT, DE) that you are open to drafting in Days 1&2?

I won't complain about LB in Day 2. I am also amenable to the idea that we could get help in the receiving game from a talented TE. It'd be great if Musgrave gets it together but I'm not really counting on it. But I would also prefer not to go that route in Round 1.

I'm in on Egbuka. My only hangup is I like O skill players have some superpower, and I don't think Egbuka really has one, just very technically sound and well coached. But I feel like he's a guy who will give you 1000 yard seasons from his rookie year, so I think the pure production will be worth it with him.

Outside of consensus I’m open to LB only. We currently sit 6 deep at OL with 3 we drafted a year ago. Can’t go TE with Kraft and Musgrave still with 2 years on their deals. RB is well stocked with 4 guys that can play. S just had a major overhaul.

This is an important year not to waste resources. There’s enough positions with issues to end up getting good value and filling a short or long term need.

This is to good of DL prospects class not to use slot 23 on one, there are 3 to 4 options at both DT and DE that could/would help us almost immediately at both positions, and for years to come, I can't see Guty taking a pass at that, round 2 holds some decent receiver options as well.

late in the draft we could make history by taking the biggest player ever drafted, and a anti tush pusher Desi WAtson, size matters :rotf:

sounds to me like Golden could go earlier than McMillan according to some mocks. others have both dropping to late teens, and yet a bunch have Golden dropping to us and Guty drafting him with our pick.
and all of Nolen, Grant, and Harmon going a few slots later, 3 players I thought were higher on Guty draft board, and the 2 receivers I thought would be gone much earlier, hard to read this draft and also were Guty is leaning for me.

I'm reading that the Packers may be trading picks with the Dolphins to move up to 13. Maybe Gutesey's urgency is escalating? Or this might be just hot air/rumor talk.

Gutesey thinks the pass rush is sufficient with the current rostered defense. Why he tips his hand saying this nonsense is unclear?

really, you seem the one schooled here :) , so far with pre draft visits of which I think total 5 so far, 3 have been pass rushers, stewart, Williams, Pearce.

is there anyone that would be available at slot 13 worth trading up for, that's the question that everyone is thinking, IMO no.

it's always rumor central by the sports writers the month before the draft, and this year it seems mocksters are as delusional about this stuff as we are, there are mocks with Golden going to us at slot 23, others with Golden going top 12 and first receiver taken, there are mock with Nolen and Harmon as day two prospects, rational has evaded this draft class, jmo. :)

Will Johnson is the one guy I could see, but I honestly think there isn't really a player worth making that jump for. Stand pat and there will be a good player available.
