From Lambeau to Lombardi, Holmgren, McCarthy and LaFleur and from Starr to Favre, Rodgers and now Jordan Love we’re talking Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers football. This Packers Forum is the place to talk NFL football and everything Packers. So, pull up a keyboard, make yourself at home and let’s talk some Packers football.
Apparently the Packers sure aren't waiting to honor retiring team president Mark Murphy.
According to a tweet/X from Aaron Nagger, Murphy's statue will be revealed on the first day of the draft. He won't join Lombardi and Curly at the main plaza (whew!), rather the bronze statue will be placed on a corner near the Atrium entrance.
I personally think this is WAY too early, even if he's the only person to earn a Super Bowl ring as a player and as a team's chief executive. One SB doesn't a statue earn... What do y'all think?
Nagger has apparently obtained a concept image of the statue. I'll make it a spoiler, in case you want to wait until the reveal: Spoiler
Absolutely brilliant. 100% deserved. The statute is so on point, couldn't be more on point.
Palmy - "Very few have the ability to truly excel regardless of system. For many the system is the difference between being just a guy or an NFL starter. Fact is, everyone is talented at this level."
You know these jokes need to be believable, right?
Sorry for not living up to your comedic standards, Papa. Gotta say, this year it was real hard to come up with anything unpolitical, as JustJeff's rule of no politics on the football dancefloor is something I take to the heart. Sign of the times, I guess.
Definitely weird. Give Murphy a Plaza just like we have the Bob Harlan Plaza.
In my eyes Murphy is a step below Harlan but does deserve recognition.
Yep. Very weird. These people are politicians and border line moronic.........not serious Packers historians.
Focus on putting Holmie and Jack Vainisi and Verne Lewellen in the Hall of Fame first and foremost. Gillingham too!
the job requires some political savoy, Harland had it, just like Murphy does, however Murphy is a football guy first, and politician second, and deserves recognition, as do Vainisi and Lewellen, I doubt Holmgren will ever get in, the way he left will harbor bad feelings forever
Absolutely brilliant. 100% deserved. The statute is so on point, couldn't be more on point.
I swore today was Liberation Day. Went on Yahoo Finance to find out about the Tarriff decision and didn't find a thing.
Instead I get egg on my face on this platform.
Man, I read MAD magazines a lot when I was a kid, and they came to Finland before the movies they parodied. So they spoiled so many American movies for me.
Never thought I'd ever get my small revenge. But I did now, and it was sweet... Thanks for playing along!

does this mean that Markus Murphy won't be getting a statue
