My big board thats Packers specific up to pick 23:
1: Abdul Carter - Best player/pass rusher in the class
2: Mason Graham - 2nd best player/pass rusher in the class
3: Will Johnson - Best pure CB in the class
4: Travis Hunter - Not the best WR or CB in the class. Pretty good player at both positions. Overhyped but would do wonders for cap flexibility for 5 yrs
5: Will Campbell - Best OT is always worth a pick
6: Tetairoa McMillain - Easily the best WR with the potential of being an AJ Green type of player
7: Jahdae Barron - Ton of DB flexibility and all around good player
8: Armand Membou - 2nd best OT
9: Jihaad Campbell - Extremely good player at LB. Would replace an average Quay Walker
10: Mykel Williams - Really balanced and freaky edge I trust playing in the SEC. Could be Jadeveon Clowney clone
11: Mike Green - Phenomenal player but I question the level of competition
12: Matthew Golden - Speed, tracking, and incredible hands
13: Derrick Harmon - Very good IDL with good size/athleticism. Could be the next Chris Jones
14: Shemar Stewart - Boom/Bust type of player. Almost worth the lottery ticket
15: Walter Nolan - Super athletic and disruptive but small
16: Benjamin Morrison - Great cover cover with injury concerns
17: Emeka Egbuka - Overall good WR but not great
18: Donovan Ezeiruaku - Jerry Hughes 2.0
19: Kelvin Banks - Really good and versatile OT
20: Josh Simmons - Good OT
21: Shavon Revel - Great cover CB with size and speed but played weak talent
22: Jalon Walker - Like the dual position versatility at ILB and edge but I think hes too small to survive at edge alone
23: Maxwell Hairston - Another size speed CB who covers well but I do have concerns with his play strength
1: Abdul Carter - Best player/pass rusher in the class

Cancelled by the forum elites.
I really like Princely. Reminds me of Chop, who I really settled into liking last year as The Draft got near. The kind of pass rusher who can hit the ground running, literally. I think our defense could really use that guy... but I think that about all defenses. Even if it is just a rotational rusher, I don't know why every team wouldn't have that type.Labrev wrote: ↑10 Apr 2025 09:42For which reason, I am way more in favor of adding interior DL with good pass-rushing skill or off-ball LBs that blitz well over DE/EDGE types. Give me a Derrick Harmon, Walter Nolen, or heck even the UCLA LB in Round 2 over these slow-burn rushers like Jackson, Ezeiraku, Sawyer, etc. I do like Kyle Kennard and Princely, but I question how much value we get from more slow-burn rush guys like that; it's just kind of redundant with the guys we have e.g. Gary, LVN, Cox, etc. We need guys that win and disrupt more quickly.
The one exception being DE/EDGE guys who have crazy speed and explosion off the edge, like in the mold of a Von Miller or KGB. But I feel like the 4-3 scheme we now run (actually more like 4-2, because Nickel is the real base defense now) is less favorable to those types of players than the 3-4.

It also doesn't believe we will draft a receiver in 1, lol.
I don't think Mike Green or Donovan E are for us, I feel like Mykell Williams and Shemar Stewart are more our speed at DE/ED. Gute said they are not looking to get smaller there. The others definitely fit what we usually go for.

2: Mason Graham - 2nd best player/pass rusher in the class to high for me. I don't see an elite NFL player here. Small with short arms. I like his nasty and wrestling background

7: Jahdae Barron - Ton of DB flexibility and all around good player to high for an all around good player that is a move piece
8: Armand Membou - 2nd best OT. love this player. I'm higher then 8
9: Jihaad Campbell - Extremely good player at LB. Would replace an average Quay Walker. I would take 6 of your next 7 defensive players before Campbell here and I love the player.

wow another article comparing Jalon WAlker to Clay Mathews, our best edge rusher of the last 50 years, WAlker is dynamic, pairing him with Copper, the ability to use either on the edge with Gary or on inside stunts could catapult our pass rush as well as run stop ability

Palmy - "Very few have the ability to truly excel regardless of system. For many the system is the difference between being just a guy or an NFL starter. Fact is, everyone is talented at this level."
That's interesting about Graham. I have wondered if he is truly safe from going later than the draftnik consensus. Maybe not a huge slide but falling out of the Top-5 or even -10. Seems like draftniks like him because he's a really good college football player, but I wonder if he's an alluring enough athlete for teams to want him Top 10. The selling point seems more about him being safe than him being elite.Backthepack4ever wrote: ↑10 Apr 2025 17:17lupedafiasco wrote: ↑10 Apr 2025 15:15My big board thats Packers specific up to pick 23:

I keep thinking of Bulaga. He was quite possibly the single best player in the draft for what we needed that year, but was supposed to be a Top-10 lock. Until he wasn't. I wonder if maybe enough excitement builds up for Harmon, and Nolen, and some of these EDGE guys that maybe they help drop him.

Ross Uglem did a scouting report on Luther Burden two days ago on Andy Herman's "blog" (actually a YouTube channel, Pack-a-Day Podcast) and I think he sold me on him.
I still kind of view him, Golden, and Egbuka as all basically being the same guy and have them all pretty much neck-and-neck, but I think that video changed the order of preference for me, from Egbuka-Golden-Burden to Burden-Egbuka-Golden.

your right Reggie was the best, I went according to stats while playing for us, Reggie has 68.5, Mathews has 83.5, but my main point is our big DE types have not set the world on fire rushing the QB, while the more agile smaller guys the size of Mathews have done better..
wanna stop the run, put 3 ILB's on the field.
Sure, but that was in a Capers 3-4 where the EDGE can just flow freely to the ballcarrier.
Our defenses since then are not conducive to that type of player's success.
Nah, even with RBs making a comeback, you gotta be in a base nickel in today's NFL.wanna stop the run, put 3 ILB's on the field.

Or find that unicorn that can function as a LB and cover like a S. I keep thinking the next truly great NFL defense is going to have these guys that are pretty much position-less.

just draft more Edgerrin Coopers, or a Mykil Parsons, or this kid from Georgia that can play edge or off ball like the two I mentioned, a edge player who can not only rush the passer, also play the run, and also drop into coverage to me should be the goal, IMO to much is made of size on the edge, and we have slowed them down even more focusing on stopping the run.Labrev wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 09:34Sure, but that was in a Capers 3-4 where the EDGE can just flow freely to the ballcarrier.

I don't know why but it turns out the one year I'm actually gonna go to the NFL draft and partake in the activities, I find myself completely detached from the player evaluation and ranking process. I don't even recognize half these names.

to me that 43/34 edge priority was a bunch of hoopala, doesn't matter where a edger lines up, what matter is ability to fend off blocks, and small guys are good at that and usually have burst left over to get the sack just as well as the bigger guysLabrev wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 09:34Sure, but that was in a Capers 3-4 where the EDGE can just flow freely to the ballcarrier.

the best ILB's today have the coverage ability like safeties and size to combat the run, and some are also very good ege rushers, teams use lite nickle because they lack heavier player with the skill and speed, IMHO that's changing

possibly a good thing, no disappointment some of us will feel when our Fav is passed by our GM

That's where I'm at. For whatever reason, I can't get into the pre-draft stuff this year.

I have gotten pretty good at realizing that I don't know &%$@. Makes the eval part more fun just to stay humble and realize that the guys that do this full-time are much better than me and the 5 minutes to put into select players.

not me, unfortunately, I still think I know everything

I don't watch enough college football, or read enough info besides just draft guru comments, and their opinions, and their often wrong.
I just put together a 23 player list and most on the list I have never seen play, and I'am guilty of manipulating it so we would get a good prospect

compared to some of you I know almost nothing, compared to most fans, I'am a GOD when it comes to knowing this stuff

I stopped getting too much into it several years ago. So much time spent on guys that never become Packers anyway. Now I just see who gets picked and hope for the best.Crazylegs Starks wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 12:16That's where I'm at. For whatever reason, I can't get into the pre-draft stuff this year.![]()

Don't have the time to dig in this year and I'm honestly curious how it will affect my reaction to our picks.Crazylegs Starks wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 12:16That's where I'm at. For whatever reason, I can't get into the pre-draft stuff this year.![]()
